We were back in the treehouse system by sunset and all of the trees seemed to glow with the fading light. Kodi went of to his treehouse and I was left to climb the stairs myself then realized that I could attempt to fly up.
I didn't think I could do it but I did want to try even on my really sore wings.
I opened my wings and flexed them like i was taught to by Dawn and then flaped them like i'd seen her do I got about a foot of the ground then fell back down. I tried two more times and got only about three inches higher than fell back down so I just ran up the stairs and leaped as I got to the top.
Bailey was on her bed reading some kind novel that looked from the cover to be Keeper of the Lost Cities kids at my school talked about it sometimes saying it was a good book so I asked.
"Do you like it."
"Like what? oh the book."
"Yes."
"Oh it's my favorite book series and I'm waiting for book 8.5."
"Oh can I read it... after your done."
"Yes."
"I'll be done with it soon maybe in two hours or so."
"Ok that would be great." I paused then said a moment later. "Thank you."
"Your welcome."
Bailey turned back to her book and had her nose buried in the book faster than I could say Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppered piped pickers and plights.
Then I asked. "Oh and Is there anything I could read."
"Ya what do you like to read."
"What do you have."
"Well let's see...I have Warrior cats, Wings of Fire, Harry Potter, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Seekers, The Julie of the Wolves Trilogy, Ice Wolves and KOTLC obviously." She said it in a wild excitement that I hadn't seen in her before.
"KOTLC???"
"Oh right, Keeper of the Lost Cities."
"Oh ok."
Can I try Warrior cats or Wings of Fire those sound good. Do you have the first book."
"Yes which one do you want to read first."
"Oh I think I'll try Warrior Cats first."
"Ok." Bailey got up and walked over to a bookcase in the corner dug around in it for a minute pulling out a book and walking over and handed me the it, I also noticed it was called Warrior Cats, Into the Wild.
I opened the book and drifted of into a dreamless oblivion of cats that went to battle to defend the greater good, i was probably gone inside the book for at least an hour when I woke to another blur of red orange light that flew right at my face stopping inches from it.
"It's time to go to bed you know that right." it was Anastasia and she looked me right in the eyes with her paws on her hips. "It's like 10:00 at night and your still up reading even Bailey is in bed and it takes a lot to convince her to go to put down a book and go to bed."
I nodded and put the book down and crawled into my bed that was oddly comforting after sleeping inside of a sleeping bag for a week it felt like going home.
that was my last thought as I drifted off into a dreamless oblivion of sleep.
I woke with sunlight shining in my face. the strange translucent leaves made the light seem a little more dim but it was all still very bright.
I got up and stretched my wings, that where ridiculously sore, but, I was told long ago that if you're sore and you don't do anything on you sore body then you won't get stronger so I was going to train and train till I didn't feel pain or at least didn't care about it.
I got dressed and walked out the door grabbed my book that I had placed next to my bed on the floor and stretched my wings. The breeze ruffled my fur and shifted my feathers.
I ran down the stairs as Dawn dropping from a tree (more like glided) and I ran over to her. "What are we doing today. I asked her."
You're going to start to fly and at least get a few feet of the ground.
