I dove right for the center and out of the corner of my eye I saw it.... Callrook. Time slowed as I saw him dressed in a black cloak... no not a cloak, shadows. I was scared, adrenaline coursed through my veins as I slowed to a stop. Only meters away from Callrook but as I approached it was as if someone had shone a spotlight on me, he saw it coming.
I took a deep breath then I dove again this time right for Callrook. Tears streamed from my eyes and I swallowed back sobs but I knew that they where to lower my defenses as they were all unreal emotions. Images flashed behind my eyes. My friends dying, disappearing into the blackness. So I cried a war cry and grabbed out my swords and at the right moment..... I hit, Callrook burst into black dust that got all over me and I dashed out of there. Right behind me I knew that it was going to explode there was a black and golden light pulsing from the dust that I had swept off of myself. I jumped into the air and started to fly away.
It felt like flying through gloop or slime because every time I flew forward a foot I got pulled back two feet, it was sapping my energy bit by bit and I had to struggle not to get pulled into the vortex-like-void.
I gasped for breath and felt the shadows suck into my soul and into my lungs preventing me from breathing.
Then a moment later I burst through the void on the mountain side and gasped for breath. Finding myself hovering of the edge of the mountain side I dove to the bottom of the mountain and dropped after I was a few feet from the ground.
Bailey and Kodi rushed from the crowd and ran up to me as Bailey said.
"Where have you been we were so worried about you." She emphasized the word so and that made me feel gratitude even in these dire situations.
I turned and saw that the void that was at the top of the mountain was spreading even veeders where going to start to notice and they NEVER noticed that kind of stuff especially magic related. I mean it was probably in their genes cause even when one showed it to them in their face they ignored it like it wasn't there.
I think that the way I looked up at the spiraling darkness above us was what got Baileys attention she asked a moment later. "What was up there after you flew in I thought you were dead.
Kodi gave here a look and she quickly said.
"We did for that matter."
I smiled and thought. They really care.
Then out loud I said. "Callrook was up there and making it so that everyone and everything left up there is destroyed or sent to the void where time stands still."
Bailey turned bright red and dropped her gaze. I looked at her and said.
"Our parents don't define who we are we do, we don't have to be what they want us to be, so be yourself."
Bailey smiled and whispered. "Thank you, Nigra."
I whispered back. "It's what friends are for."
I turned away and looked up to the clouds where the darkness was spreading like black smoke on a breeze even though there was no breeze. Then I noticed it was eerily silent no noise except the quiet dashing of animals running away and some of the Order talking in the distance ,but there was no bird song no swishing branches only deathly silence.
Someone walked over to me and said come with us. I looked at Kodi and he nodded eagerly. So I nodded and said. "Okay where are we going."
The women responded with. "To the one place Callrook can't get to you, our hideouts."
Later I was trudging through the forest following the spirit-foxes and the Order getting there was apparently going to do something bad because when I asked where we were going I got the answer of. "Oh your going to have to embrace the pain." Which didn't sound like eating chocolate ice cream.
I worried that whatever this was I would have to endure pain of some form which was not the best thing that had happened to me well I mean I had some pretty bad things happen to me today so this probably would be in the top ten best things.
I shoved those morbid thought from my brain and asked. "When will be get there."
I got responded with a grunt and someone said in a voice I thought was male. "Once sun sets and stone starts to glow."
I nodded like I knew what that meant and he turned around and said. "You have no clue what that means do you."
I blushed and shook my head. He laughed. "I don't know how to explain it, it's like it sounds yet much much more like the sun got dipped in crystal as the colors shift and vibrate making your vision dance."
I gapped at that ,it sounded beautiful, almost like a fairy tale, yet again my mind switched to a world where magic wasn't real. But it was real like day and night itself.
I smiled as the thought spiraled through my head. The boy asked. "Whatcha thinking about? My good looks."
Kodi was at my side in an instant like he had materialized out of thin air, well actually he probably did.
Kodi dragged me to where Bailey was standing with the women from before and he said. "Don't ever go around him again he's a dork."
"He didn't seem like a dork to me."
"Oh, like every other girl, defending him." he sneered.
My eyes widened saying. "I wasn't defending him...okay maybe I was but I don't like like him and even so why would you care.
Kodi went bright red but didn't say anything so I dropped the subject and said. "So what is this "once sun sets and stone starts to glow" nonsense about."
The women said. "That's how we get to the hideout the light coming of of the stone combats the darkness of black magic."
I nodded, realization probably showed on my face.
"Okay I need you to hold my hand because you don't have the raven pendent on you."
Again I nodded and grabbed her hand and almost immediately I felt like the wind was seeping into me but it wasn't unpleasant more like I was getting drifted through the air riding inside a bubble.
As soon as it started it stopped and I was standing in a half room with glowing stones on the walls and the setting sun at the other end. I cocked my head like a confused animal and looked again at the stones.
The women turned and made a noise that looked like she was covering up a laugh. I turned my head and glared at her. That made her openly laugh and I had to laugh with her as I asked.
"So, how do we get in?"
