It's Hale, It's Complicated {5}

chapter five

With Scott rushing off early, it left Melissa and Rory to have breakfast together - not that they were complaining because for some reason, whenever all three of them have breakfast together, Scott always managed to eat three times either Melissa or Rory.

The pair were chatting easily about school and work when the front door slammed open violently,
"Rory?!"

"Kitchen"

Stiles Stilinskin rapidly rushed towards the sound of his girlfriend's voice causing him to skid to a stop into the chair beside her,
"Okay, so don't freak out"

Rory frowned gently at the boy - that was a particularly bad way to start a conversation. Stiles quickly diverted his gaze from Rory to Melissa,
"Morning"

"Good morning, Stiles" Melissa responded nonchalantly.

"Don't freak out is not a very good way to start a conversation" Rory informed the boy nonchalantly as she picked up a scoop of eggs.

"I was looking at the dead pool" Stiles informed the girl bluntly as he took her fork from her hand and laid it down on her plate,
"Have you looked at it?"

Rory watched him take her fork before frowning at him,
"Not yet. I thought Lydia had it"

"She does" Stiles said bluntly,
"I was looking at it and you're worth a lot more than anyone else"

Rory froze mid-going to grab her fork again, 
"Elaborate"

"Thirtytwomilliondollars"

"I'm good but I'm not that good" Rory said nonchalantly before gesturing to her ear,
"One more time please"

"Thirty two million dollars"

Rory and Melissa both allowed their jaws to go slack in shock before turning to each other and then back to Stiles,
"Thirty-two million dollars?"

"What the fuck?" Rory muttered earning a small smack on the arm from Melissa who gave her a small look,
"Sorry"

Melissa moved her hand down Rory's arm and laced their fingers together,
"You're going to be safe, right?"

"Always" Rory promised with a smile,
"Perfectly safe"

"Absolutely" Stiles agreed with a nod,
"She'll be fine, I will protect her"

Melissa simply raised her eyebrows at the boy causing him to correct himself,
"Scott will protect"

Rory mirrored Melissa's look but accompanied it with a clearing of her throat.

Stiles awkwardly looked down at his hand before correcting himself again,
"Rory will protect herself"

Rory stared at her boyfriend for a moment longer before turning back to Melissa,
"Bye Mel"

"Bye honey"

Rory shot Stiles a look before getting up and walking towards the door causing the boy to scramble after her, although, he hesitated for a moment and grabbed himself a slice of toast before fully rushing after the girl.
