It started with Merlins servant robes.

Uther didn't force any servants to wear a uniform - as it would be a waste of resources - so when Merlin enters the hall behind Arthur in bright Pendragon red and a humongous feather sticking out of an equally ridiculous hat, Uthur swears to keep an eye out for his son's antics.

Steadily, over the years, the amount of Red Merlin wears steadily increases. He doesn't seem to mind the bright colours, but Uthur is almost positive his son's manservant is completely oblivious to the actual reason his son keeps gifting him red clothing.

When Uthur spots his sons new present - an embroidered red neckerchief with the pendragon crest in the centre - he resists the urge to scream at the oblivious boy. Honestly, even Uthurs surprisingly strong patience was been tested by their oblivious pining.

Uthers adds the present to his mental list and skims through the impressive list.

Uthurs' mental list:

1) Red neckerchief (After Merlin got his covered in blood from Arthurs's shoulder)

2)Red shirt (Appeared after Beltine. Arthur refuses to acknowledge it was a present)

3)Red jacket (Appeared swiftly after a visiting servant had started to hit on Merlin. The servant got the message)

4) Red bag (Arthur claimed it was a replacement for the bag that had 'broken')

5) gloves (Which had appeared after Arthur had seen him shivering whilst serving him at dinner)

6)cloak (The most daring of Arthurs presents, considering the giant crest on the back. Appeared after he saw Merlin and a lower-ranking Noble flirting at a feist)

And lastly, the neckerchief Merlin is proudly prancing around wearing, fingers occasionally caressing the soft material with a big smile plastered to his face. Searching the room for the subtly warned person who will be staring dejectedly at an oblivious Merlin and a smug prince, Uthur smirks when the newest Servant is stood in the corner doing just that.

Really, Uthur thinks, they need to get together before Arthur bankrupts the nation.
