PAIN, a four-letter word, one syllable.
"a distressing feeling often caused by intense or damaging stimuli", according to Wikipedia.
Examples:
To see your partner with another girl on social media,
Remembering the promise of a bright future and good times.
The knot in your stomach and burning in your throat, trying to fight the tears,
Tears which grew in number when you found out the girl in the picture was your best friend,
the look when you see pictures of an 'us'.
Staying up at night, hoping that he'll call and tell you that it is a sick joke.
Lighting a cigarette and watching the smoke, drift between your eyes and know there's no hope.
The lows and the highs of the shots you have downed,
Getting lost in the club to the music's pound.
Searching for that familiar face in the crowd,
Realising that things lost can't always be found.
REGRET, a six-letter word, two syllables,
Waking up the next day in a stranger's bed,
Watching the morning sunlight which you dread.
Knowing there is much to be said.
Silence.
Phone buzzing with his name on the screen.
Fingers in a knot, this was the scene.
Walking down the street, mascara running,
The hell with people and their shunning.
SELF-LOVE, an eight lettered word, two syllables.
Wearing your heart on your sleeve,
Knowing you are who you are meant to be.
Preferring life- disciplines over chasing people who aren't worth your time.
Accepting yourself as one, a whole not waiting to find the other piece or picking up pieces.
Know that you don't need products to define you, Diets to shape you,
Or a man who breaks you.
Love the person who you see every morning in the mirror.
Reach inside your heart and things will be clear.
Time heals all.
XOXO,
Enchanté,
I've just changed the order of my poem, this is not a new one. Sorry for the trouble.
