Harry gasps loudly, causing me to jump slightly.
"Sorry," he giggles, "but I love this song!"
"Really?" I look at him for a split second before returning my attention to the curvy canyon road before us. I had connected my phone to my car's blue tooth and my music had been playing since we left the gas station. "I didn't expect you to be a fan of The 1975."
"Oh, big fan," he corrects.
"Wow," I widen my eyes. "I love this song too. It's such a vibe."
"And what kind of vibe is that?" he asks, looking out his window to see the frozen lakes and pine trees covered in freshly fallen snow.
"I don't know. It's just very chill," I say, shrugging. "Good for a late-night drive, I guess."
"Too bad it's not night," he says, looking over at me. Just as he did so, the chorus of the song began to play.
Don't you see me I
I think I'm falling, I'm falling for youHe blushes and looks away, back out his window. We sit in silence for a few moments, taking in all the sights to see out the windows of my car and listening to the song that we both loved. He looked so effortlessly attractive, his eyes lit up from the bright snow as he watched the passing trees and snowy hills.
"I don't want to be your friend," he sang along, still looking out of his window, "I want to kiss your neck."
I couldn't bare to tear my eyes from the road, and it wasn't just because it was icy and slick. Harry continued to sing the lyrics to the song quietly under his breath, still staring out at the distance. But finally, once the last line approached, he looked straight out the windshield as he mumbled along.
And maybe you, change your mind.
The next song changed to a much more upbeat song; Canyon Moon by Harry himself.
In an attempt to change the mood, I started belting out the lyrics.
"Gotta see it to believe it," I sang loudly, causing Harry to worriedly look over at me.
A little background info: I am the worst singer to ever live. And I think Harry got that hint as soon as the first lyric left my mouth. He immediately burst into laughter, but I continued to sing.
"So hard to leave it," I continued. And after the next line, Harry joins me.
The two of us sang his lyrics together at the tops of our voices. I'm sure the cars passing thought we were psychopaths screaming, but little did they know we were having the time of our lives.
Canyon moon is underrated. Harry never performs it on TV shows or when he's performing somewhere other than his own release party. And that makes me sad. This song is so good and deserves so much more hype. That's it. That's what needed to be said.
Of course, the song eventually came to an end and Harry and I were both left breathless. We giggled at our craziness and he picked up his water bottle and took a sip.

I wasn't even sure how long we'd been driving, but it felt like we'd been in the car forever. I glance down at my gas tank meter to see I had around 1/4 of a tank left.
"We're going to have to stop for gas again," I tell him.
"Oh that's fine," he says like it was no big deal, "I figured we would need to soon anyway."
I get off at the nearest exit and search around for the next gas station in sight. Harry points up ahead, showing me an upcoming gas station.
"There's one."
"Oh, thanks," I say, and soon pull into the parking lot. "Do you need to use the bathroom or anything while we're here?"
"No, I'm good." He shakes his head.
I fuel up my car get back in.
"Do you know where we are?" Harry asks as I start the up car. Honestly, I didn't. I had been so caught up with singing and dancing with him in the car that I had completely lost track of time. I didn't even remember what time we left.
"Um," I say pulling out my phone and checking my location on the maps. My eyes become the size of saucers once I see where we were. "Holy shit."
"What?" He asks, worries thickening his tone.
"We're in Steamboat Springs," I inform him. "That means we've been driving for 4 hours."
"Wow," his eyes widen just as mine did. "I mean, you know what they say: time flies when you're having fun."
I snort, looking down and tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. "Yeah, that's true."
"That's cute," Harry says.
"What is?"
"The way you laugh," he says, "it has a little snort to it. It's adorable."
"Thanks," I say sheepishly, "I've always hated it."
"Why?" He smiles, shaking his head.
"Well, my mom always used to tell me it sounded 'unladylike,'" I tell him sadly, "She would compare me to a pig, even though it was something I couldn't control."
"That doesn't sound very motherly," Harry says.
"I'm sure there were things you did that your mother didn't like," I point out.
"I mean, sure. Sometimes my room would be messy or I would get in trouble for talking too much at school or something. But she would never get mad at me for something that I couldn't control," He says, shaking his head. "And especially something that made me different."
"Your mom seems lovely," I tell him.
"Yeah?" He asks, and I nod. "Well maybe you should meet her again sometime."
My breath hitched. Meet his mom?! What was that supposed to mean?
"Yeah, sure," Was I could manage to say. I was practically speechless.
But in all honesty, the way he was talking to me about my relationship with my mom—the one thing I hate more than anything to talk about—made me feel so comfortable around him. I felt like I could tell him anything. Like I could be the most vulnerable with him.
And I wanted to talk to him because I would get a response. His voice was incredible; so soothing and softer than silk.
"My mom would like you," Harry says to fill up the silence of the car, still parked next to the fuel pump but now running.
"Really?" I ask hopefully and he nods. "And why do you think that?"
"You're a lot like her," he says, "very stubborn."
I laugh and he smiles.
"Plus you're very pretty."
