a/n: how is everyone doing ? mentally, physically, emotionally...anything? we can talk in the comments or privately if anyone would like to

* * *

My heart thumped roughly in my chest as I stare down at my phone in disbelief. After all this time, he was texting me.

Do I reply?

It would be rude no to...right?

As I press a single key on my keyboard, I get a text from Harry.

Harry: I feel bad for having you do everything for me. Is there anything I can do to help?

Instead of replying right away, I shake my head, focusing on what I should say to Noah. I don't even know what to say to him.

I mean, I feel like I shouldn't even reply at all now that Harry and I are together. But at the same time, since Harry and I are together, there shouldn't be anything to worry about with me talking to Noah. I don't still have feelings for him.

I don't think so, at least.

I knew for a fact that I'd feel guilty about leaving him on read, so I decided to send him a reply. One as simple as I could manage, not wanting to be all buddy-buddy with Noah again just yet. Either way, I needed to send him a reply quickly, my phone being at only a few percents from being on it all morning, the apps I used draining my battery like a bathtub.

Lili: I've been very good. How have you and your dad been?

Letting out a long, drawn-out sigh, I tuck my phone back into the pocket of my bottoms, returning all my focus to the wall of medicine before me. I wasn't even sure what kind of medicine he needed. I knew he has a sore throat and a potential fever, but did he have any other cold symptoms? Did he have a runny nose? Chills? Body aches?

Going with the most logical option, I grabbed a bottle of generic cold medicine, just in case he was experiencing any of the other things. I'm not a pharmacist so I wasn't really sure what else to do.

As I stand in line, I anticipate Noah's response. I'm sure--unless his family is in some sort of crisis or something--he'll first respond saying him and his father are good. But then what? I mean, there must be some other reasoning behind him texting me other than just to check-up. Though he was sweet and all and may seem like the type to do that, people don't really check up on each other unless they need something anymore.

I check out and leave with the medicine, my head practically spinning. I honestly don't know why I was so shaken up by just Noah texting me. It's not like I thought I'd never hear from him again. Maybe it's just because I didn't think it'd be this soon.

The warm afternoon sun shines against my newly sunkissed skin while I walk to the car. This little vacation was one of the best ones I've been on by far, and I was sure going to miss this weather more than anything, but maybe going back to the cold would be good for me. Maybe it will bring a tinge of normalcy into my life.

As I take a seat on the driver's side of James' rental car, an overwhelming bucket of guilt dumps over my head. I back the car out of the parking spot and begin driving out of the parking lot of the grocery store. I shouldn't feel this guilt, I'm not doing anything wrong talking to Noah.

Sure, he and Harry had a little competition in the past, but in the long run, I chose Harry.

Pictures in my mind flash like a slideshow, causing me to frown. All I can see is Harry laying in bed, looking absolutely miserable. I'm doing this all for him. And I'm doing it because I care about him, not Noah.
