Down The Chimney

Keith and Hunk thanked the maid, who they soon learned was named Shay and made there way up to the roof.

Once they got up there they got ready. The rope was tied around Keith's waist and Hunk's calloused hands were gripping that rope tightly.

Keith gave Hunk a look, and with that, he plunged into the chimney. Only armed with a duster and his own bare hands.

Now, this rope mind you, was strong. Was. Now that it had been used so many times the twine was ripping.

And when Keith plunged even further into the chimney to clean it, the rope broke.

Keith let out a small gasp as he felt the rope whip against his arm. And in such a tight space it also slapped him across the face.

"HUNK!", Keith all but screamed as he felt his body fall.

He heard his name being called. But panic all but blocked it out.

Keith felt his breathing getting fast. He's heard what happens to people who fall into chimneys. They suffocate and their bodies have to be left in that chimney until people rip it down.

Keith didn't want that to happen to him. He didn't want his body to be trapped in a chimney.

Keith was going to let out another scream when he felt the walls around him scream.

But suddenly light flooded his eyes. And instead of being squished and stuck he was instead free and splayed onto what seemed to be the ground.

"Oh my God! Are you alright?", he suddenly heard a voice ask.

Keith opened his mouth to respond, but he just coughed weakly in response.

"Wait, let me help you up", the voice suddenly said.

Keith let out a surprised gasp when he felt his body being lifted. He tried to wiggle out of the arms, an instinct that has saved him many times.

"Stop that! I'm trying to put you on my bed! I don't want you staying on the blasted ground", the voice huffed out.

Keith felt the arms holding him shaking. He had twigs for arms then. That was easy to see.

When Keith was finally set onto the bed the man let out a rough sigh.

Keith then opened his eyes. They had been closed all this time. Why? He doesn't know. Maybe because he was trying to think of happier times before he died.

And he was surprised to see who he saw.

This man, who seemed to be taller than him, was a walking twig. Keith was skinny but he at least had meat on his bones! This man barely had anything.

"I'll be back. Let me just get you some water", the man rushed out.

Before Keith could respond the man was gone.

Keith stared with a confused look on his face. What the hell just happened?

Keith turned his attention back to the bed he was laying on.

It was probably once a soft blue color. Now they are a dark smudged black.
