A/N: okay so i'm doing this, but Joanna it will not end with you having a word to make fun of me over because I don't use words like relish to talk about what you were talking about.
If any of you want to get in on the joke, check out the Oneshots book on HamFans10123 (our shared account)
Btw this is an AU where they literally are just regular high schoolers with no difference in blood. Even with this though, I couldn't bring myself to include Ptolemus. We love his and Evangelines relationship but I hate him. So much. Also this trip is for seniors and juniors. Anyways that's all lol.
...
The knocking on the door is so loud that I can't refuse it, even though I really just want sleep.
Teen beach week wasn't my plan, but since I started dating Cal school trips have been a given. My jealous side makes sure that I'm on every one, but it's getting kind of exhausting and it's not like I think Cal will do anything stupid.
"I'm coming!" I yell as I pull myself out of bed, just realizing how cold I am without him.
It's the last night and any responsible adult that decides to come when we get picked up tomorrow would make sure the guys were in the guys house.
Cal has been sleeping in my room, but he can't make a choice to save his life so I told him not to risk it.
"Mare-"
I unlock the door and swing it open, and my silver-haired best friend (kind of?) is standing there.
"Evangeline, what do you want? It's almost two in the morning and we leave at one tomorrow."
"Get dressed, or at least put on some cuter pants." She orders. "Oh, and brush your teeth. Then meet me in the living room. Hurry or we'll start without you."
She smiles mischievously and leaves, practically bouncing down the stairs.
This isn't going to be good.
I sigh and turn on the light, forcing myself to change out of Cal's sweat pants and into some shorts that Evangeline would approve of, not that I need her approval.
I brush my teeth and run a comb through my hair, the purple starting fade from earlier in the school year.
When I finish, I stare at myself in the mirror and tell myself that I should just go back to sleep and let them have their fun. This is a terrible idea. I want to go to bed.
But some part of me knows I'll regret not joining.
So I head to the living room with no clue what's planned or who's gonna be there. Probably us girls making prank calls, with some type of twist because elf Evangeline.
Completely off the mark.
When I turn off the stairs into the living room there's a group of people sitting on the couch and floor of the rental house.
Cal, Kilorn, Tyton, Elane, Farley, Shade, Evangeline, and Maven look up and follow me with their eyes as I work my way through them and wedge my way in between Cal and Kilorn.
"What's going on?" I ask.
"Yeah, can you just tell us?" Kilorn adds sleepily.
"You don't know?"
"No, Evangeline-"
Elane clears her throat. "Maybe if you shut up, you would find out."
Evangeline smirks. "It's simple. We're playing truth or dare."
I start to stand but Cal wraps an arm around my waist and pulls me back gently. "Hang on, Mare."
"I'm not playing. I'm going to bed." I argue. I don't want any part in this, because someone is one hundred percent going to get arrested.
"Come on, it'll be fun."
I narrow my eyes at him but sit back down, settling against him.
"Great." Shade grins. "I want to start. Di, truth or dare?"
Farley rolls her eyes, but smiles all the same. "Dare."
"I dare you to run down the street." Farley starts to scoff, obviously unimpressed, but Shade continues. "In your underwear."
Varying levels of hoots and laughs come from the group. Shade grins smugly and leans back in his seat. Farley glares at him but I know she'd never back down.
"Are you that hot and bothered, Barrow?" She stands up and starts to pull off her shirt.
"Hang on!" Shade shoots out of his chair and steps in front of her. "I'll make sure you do it. They don't have to see."
I snort.
We doubt they'll be back for a while.
...
We all wait, chatting with each other for about five minutes before giving up and continuing the game without Farley and Shade.
I don't know where they went, and I definitely don't want to think about it.
"Well, it would be Farleys turn, but she's gone." Tyton states. He's been kind of quiet tonight, but it's not really out of character for him.
"Obviously." Evangeline rolls her eyes. "So who's taking her turn?"
I sink back into the Cal again, hoping she doesn't choose me. I can't think of any good dares, and everyone here will choose that.
"Fine. I will." She shrugs. "Mare, truth or dare?"
I swallow, but put on a brave face before saying the most cowardly thing ever. "Truth."
It's too late to take a dare from Evangeline. Anyone else in this room I would take a dare from, but not her.
"Of course, typical Barrow ruining the fun."
I only put up with Elane because of Evangeline. If they weren't together I would cross the room and spit on her. Nothing but rude to me this whole trip.
It makes me sick to watch them together, because her personality completely changes. With everyone else is ladylike and condescending, but with Evangeline she's doting and sweet.
"That's fine." Evangeline smirks. "Mare, is it true that you and Cal have done it?"
Tyton bursts with laughter, Kilorn is holding back his own chuckles, and Cal's entire body is heating up with embarrassment. I swear he has hotter blood than everyone else.
I feel myself turn scarlet, but keep my composure. I don't have to say anything. I don't have to tell them anything.
But does that make me a coward?
I already chose what I thought would be easier, but now I regret it. I should've went with dare.
"You don't have to answer that, Mare." Cal says quietly into my ear. "You know it's just a game."
"I know."
"So?" Elane smirks. "Have you had sex yet?"
I'm glad my brother isn't here for this.
"We're waiting."
