Brooklyn

Standing outside the 21st precinct, I took a deep breath. I have been jittery all morning, my mind wandering about what kind of system I can create and even just seeing Hank in general.

Bounding up the stairs, I was met with the sight of officers running around the precinct. Some hauling in criminals, some clocking in and out. Slowly making my way to the lady standing behind the counter, she looked at me from a over her glasses, before looking back down at the paper. "How can I help you"

I was about to respond when I heard a voice call my name. Turning my head slightly, I caught sight of Hank waiting for me at another section of stairs. Waving at the lovely lady behind the counter, I carefully made my way over to Hank, trying not to bump into the officers.

Opening the gated door, I slipped through, waiting for him to close the door. Smiling at the older Sergeant we made our way upstairs to where his unit is stationed. "Hopefully I'm not interrupting you during a case. I would feel terrible"

Glancing over at him with my eyes, I saw a small smile form before shaking his head. "No, you got lucky. Most of them are working on older cases, so you should be fine"

Stepping into the the area, all eyes landed on me. Smiles pushed my way. "Is there a certain desk you want me to use". Pointing over to a desk by Kim, I smiled at the brunette.

"If you need anything, just ask". Giving him a grateful smile. As he wandered towards his office, Kim grabbed my hand.

"There is finally another girl to out power the boys". Laughing slightly, I watched as the crew all making sounds of disagreement and agreement.

"Alright, so what kind of software do you want". Ideas were thrown at me, all very useful. Making a quick list, I took out my laptop from my bag.

My fingers typing away, not really paying attention to what was going on around me. I followed the codes that I was creating, letting my fingers do everything. I have created so many databases that it is has become a muscle memory.

Typing in codes that will bring emergency alerts that require police, I felt a person standing next to me. Finishing the code, I looked up to see Kim. A coffee in her hand. "I don't think you realized it but you have been working on that for hours. Thought you could use a break"

Chuckling softly, I took the coffee from her hand. I watched as Kim rolled her rolly chair over to where I was working. The two of us talking about random things, me questioning the wall full of weird weapons was one. She told me about some of the weirdest cases she worked on.

Starting type away once again, I noticed Kim watched intrigued by what I was doing. I tried to explain it but I think she got lost halfway through the explanation. Finishing the code sequence for the emergency alert system, each with different colors depending on the situation.

Quickly downloading the software onto a new USB drive, I went to each computer, with the person's permission of course, downloading the new and improved database onto their computers.

I watched as each person starting to play around, trying to figure out how things worked. Occasionally, I would have to help them find certain things but other than that, they got the hang of it pretty quickly.

I was about to go over the emergency codes, when all of their computers sounded the alert simultaneously. Their eyes widening in shock. Voight walked out, walkie in hand. Just he noticed that Intelligence was already gearing up. "I may have found a way to get emergency alerts from the police scanner to a computer". I bit my lip nervously, and moved to the side when Hank started to call out commands.

Watching everyone start to turn to their cars, Hank stopped in front of me. "You did good Brooke. Be safe driving home". Nodding at the sergeant, he started walking away.

"Be careful Hank". Giving me a curt nod, he disappeared. Making sure all the computers had everything downloaded correctly, I left instructions on all of their desk, just in case something malfunctions.

Quickly grabbing my laptop, and securing it in my bag, I left the bullpen. Slipping past the officers, I made my way outside, thankful for the fresh air. Taking a deep breath, I swiftly made it to my car, pulling away from the precinct.

Turning off the burner on the stove, a knock on my door caught me attention. Looking at it questioningly, I made my way over. Standing on my tip toes to look through the peep hole, I was surprised by who stood there.

Praying ever so slightly that I look decent, I opened the door. There stood Hank Voight, his demanding, and intimidating posture still intact. Noticing him his jacket soaking wet from the rain, I moved out of the way to let him in. He was about to protest but one look from me and he stopped.

"Get inside this apartment before you catch a damn cold". Smirking ever so slightly, he stepped inside. Quickly grabbing some towels from the supply closet near by, I threw several at him. "Take off your shoes and jacket. Leave them on the towels so they can dry".

Turning away, I quickly grabbed a second mug, already having a feeling he would want coffee. He was going to be driving home later and I didn't want to give him alcohol. Hearing him approach a few seconds later, I placed the coffee mug in front of him. "You know you don't have to do all of this Brooklyn".

Laughing at his choice of words, I glanced over my shoulder to look at him. "I wanted to".

The two of us talked, just getting to know each other a little more. "I'm happy you stopped by Hank". A genuine smile on my face, as I looked down at my coffee mug. I was socially awkward.

A hand grabbed my own, slowly causing me to rise my head. Staring into his hazel eyes, this was the first time I have ever seen him so relaxed. "I wasn't going to, but I found my way here"

Cleaning up slightly as he got his shoes and leather jacket back on, I went towards the door to say goodbye. As he stepped across the threshold, I placed a kiss on his cheek. "Be safe driving home Hank"

The genuine smile appeared once again on his face as he looked at me. "Night Brooklyn". A small kiss was placed on my cheek, before he walked away. A blush rushed towards my cheeks, as I laid a hand on the kiss.

Shutting the door behind me and locking it, I smiled. What the hell is happening to me.
