Brooklyn
With limp movements, I rolled my head to face Kim who had tears in her eyes. Moving my position to get comfortable, a whine roll passed my lips as pain radiated through my body. "Brooke just let me take your place".
Shaking my head weakly I had to close my eyes to hold in my cries of pain. I wasn't going to let her get hurt. I couldn't save Layla but I'm not going to let somebody else I care about get hurt. "I'm ok, I can handle it".
With Kim trying to keep my mind occupied from the pain, silence soon washed over us as the door opened. I wasn't going to raise my head until I saw shoes walk towards Kim. Her whimpers of pain causing my head to flick up. Tugging at the chains I tried to reach for her but hands kept my body in place.
"Get your hands off of her". Pushing against the man's grip and ignoring the pain that flared through me, I did everything in my power to get to Kim. Dried blood covered my skin, but my wounds reopened causing blood to deep through.
"It's ok Brooke". Although my squiring died down, I couldn't bear to watch the girl go through pain. That was until a phone started ringing. Meeting Kim's eyes, a bad feeling grew inside of me at the smirk that grew on the tattooed man's face.
Before I could do anything a hand dug into my wound causing me to scream. The pain filled whine ringing into the air. As a hand was pulled away the distinct sound of Hank's voice caught my attention. Whipping my head up, I clenched my jaw.
"Don't do it Hank! They want to kill you" I screamed out, that forcing me to get a punch across the face to silence me. Tugging at the chains harshly, I was able to get some momentum, enough for me to knock the guy behind me off balance.
Moving my foot backwards, I did my best to smack the guys head into the column close by. Gritting my teeth, I looked down to see the guy limp. Commotion rang around the room seeing as Kim was fighting the guy holding her.
Watching the girl snatch the keys off of the unconscious dude next to her, she unlocked the shackles on her wrist before racing towards me. Feeling dizziness and tiredness wash over me, I shook my head at her. "Get out of here Kim. You have a better chance of getting Intelligence here"
"I'm not leaving you behind". Undoing the restraints, I almost fell straight away but the brunette kept me up. "We need to get you to a hospital Brooklyn"
The longer I stood, the weaker I felt. "I'm losing to much blood, you need to save yourself.".
A hand was placed on my cheek, the brunette holding a determine look in her eyes. "We are getting out of here. Voight is coming, we kept the phone call on long enough for them to trace". Trying to smirk at the use of my tech skills being used against me, I started to see black in my vision.
With an arm wrapped around my waist, the two of us hobbled out of the room, both on edge on what lies beyond the doors. Opening the door as silently as possible we peaked our heads out before I was basically drug alongside the girl.
Catching sight of figures coming towards us, I had to do everything in my power not to Yelp out in pain by being pushed into a small area. Holding our breaths, we tried to be deathly silent. We watched as people sprinted by us, shouting being heard.
Slinking away through the building, doing everything in our power to be stink, only my worsening condition made it quite difficult. "Go Kim. I will just hope for the best and hide somewhere"
"You will die Brooklyn, that's not an option.". I felt like I was dead weight, my body physically couldn't handle it. I may not be bleeding profusely at this moment in time, but with the amount caked onto my skin I didn't have long.
Powering through everything, we stumbled through the building figuring out how to get out of the maze like place. The distinct sounds of sirens reaching our ears, we almost let out a breath of relief just the current predicament didn't call for it.
Stumbling towards one of the hallways thundering footsteps overpowered our senses. Feeling my flight response kicking in, adrenaline power shooter through my veins. Thus giving me enough energy to move my ass.
Sprinting through the hallways, my hand pressing down on one of the more deep wounds in my side, I tried to focus on getting out. Finding ourself in a large corridor, we ended up surrounded guns raised. Swallowing the fear and the sense of passing out the best I could, I glanced at Kim.
Without even thinking, she grabbed my hand before pushing us through one of the windows behind us. I would have screamed in fear, but shock kind of silenced me. Landing on the ground with a thud.
I tried to push myself off the ground but I literally couldn't move and Kim knew it. My body couldn't fight anymore. Hands wrapped around me pulling me closer to them. "Brooke I need you to stay awake, I see cars coming towards us."
No energy, no control. I used everything I had to get out. Although the sirens grew closer, and Kim's voice was right next to me all of my senses started to fade away. Black flooded my vision, Kim's touch dwindling, sounds becoming a distant noise.
All I could truly hear and feel was my heart slowly starting to shut down. It's rapid beats turning into small inconsistent thumps of life. I was dying.
————The scene the was played in front of Intelligence was one that would haunt them forever. Kim's hunched over figure holding Brooklyn close to her protectively. Her pleading cries for the girl to respond and stay awake. Blood pooling around the two girls, soaking into the ground and tattered clothes.
Hank Voight stepped out of his SUV almost crumpling to ground at the sight. His second chance at love laid limp over his detectives lap. Her body holding scars and wounds like ones found on soldiers at war. The sergeant wasn't one to show many emotions but tears started to form in his eyes.
Quickly making his way towards the two, he bent down slowly not to alarm Burgess, knowing the two girls went through hell. Looking up to see her boss, she shook her head, distress so clear in her eyes. Holding out his arms, he could see the hesitation in the detectives eyes.
Hearing the Ambulance roll up behind the sergeant, Burgess reluctantly slid the girl into Hank's arms. Only as he glanced over the love of his life's form, he almost sobbed at the full view. He has seen many things, but never something this traumatic. Laying her onto gurney, Intelligence surrounded him, all realizing the severity of it all.
Sylvie Brett and Emily Foster stared at the brunette beauty of the gurney, a look of urgency in their eyes. "We need to get her to med, she's lost to much blood".
Turning towards his detectives, everyone stared at the sergeant with a determined look. "I don't care how you do it but find Dante. Him and I need to have a little talk". Not needing anything more, Voight helped Kim into the ambulance before shutting door.
Calling out commands for a full on police escort to Chicago Med, Hank Voight stood terrified, angry and for the first time, vulnerable. Brooklyn was taken to get revenge on him, and that wasn't something Voight took lightly. You could do whatever you wanted to him, but touch a hair on the people he cares about and you will find yourself dead.
Author note
So funny story, this wasn't how this entire kidnapping plot was going to go but you know my fingers typed it.I honestly hope you guys like it, if you guys couldn't tell I kind of love writing dramatic scenes. When I write scenes where my main OC is tortured or kidnap, I have this sense of vulnerability myself seeing as I dream of these scenes. Most of the things I write are things I dream about. So some of the more heavier plot lines are things I picture in my head and type out in chapter form.
Now as for Hank and Brooklyn, this is going to lead into a stronger bond between the two of them. I know their bond now is cute but it will get better. The two will become like that one powerhouse couple that everyone knows not to mess with.
