"I won't hurt you. I'll never leave you," Javier says.
How do I know he's not lying?
Where did that come from?
I love this man.
"I swear. I'll never leave you. I love you too much to hurt you, Ella," he walks up the steps and takes my hands.
Any reservations I might have dissipate as he kisses me gently.
"I love you, Ella Matthews," he says.
"I love you too," I murmur, meeting his eyes as we press our foreheads together.

Daylight filters through the window and half-closed curtains. I breathe in the spring air and try to fall back into the comfort of sleep. In a half-asleep daze, I daydream about many things.
Mostly about the next chapter of my romance novel.
Javier has given me a lot of inspiration.
I roll over to face him. He's still sleeping. I won't wake him. It's Sunday.
He shifts position slightly and gives a tiny snore.
I'm overwhelmed by intense fondness. It warms my heart for some reason.
I just lay there and watch him breathe for a while.
Eventually, the light wakes him.
He opens his eyes.
The light makes them look like pools of honey.
"Morning, hermosa," he murmurs sleepily, brushing hair out of his eyes.
"Hey, Javier," I say softly.
I move closer to him and settle into his arms.
It's warm and I feel indescribably safe yet powerful.
I feel loved.
And it's golden.
"Ella," he murmurs into my ear after a while "I'm gonna go make some coffee. You want some?"
"Yeah, sure. Thank you," I say.
When he gets up I move to his side of the bed because it's warmer than mine.
He shakes his head and smiles when he sees what I've done but doesn't say anything.
He just walks over to the kitchen area and starts the coffee.
I watch him moving around the small area of the dark wood cabin, going through the motions of coffee-making.
This house is only one room and it's absolutely tiny.
But it's ours.
Javier brings the coffee over and I move back to my side of the bed.
He gets back into bed and we lay in a comfortable silence for a while. We drink our coffee, then fall back to the quiet. Our breathing ends up synced.
And in the silence I know.
"Marry me, Javier," I murmur, turning to him.
His dark eyes widen in a moment of shock.
"I love you," I say, by way of explanation.
His face relaxes.
"I love you too, Ella," he says. Then he shocks me by laughing lightly. "But it was supposed to be me who asked you," he opens the drawer of his bedside table and pulls out a ring.
I can't help but smile as he slides the ring onto my finger, and we kiss.
The ring fits perfectly.
All the pieces of my life fall into place and my world is irrevocably changed into a golden paradise.
Because I'm not going to be Ella Matthews for very much longer.
I've been dreaming of this day since our first drunken kiss.
The moment our lips touched then was the moment my universe aligned.
The next day when I woke up with a pounding headache but remembered our kiss and was happy. My heart glowed with love and I thought how much I liked the name Ella Escuella.
Then he brought me coffee with ginseng to help ease the headache.
The time that we got drunk in Valentine.
I wore a flower necklace made by Jack.
We bought outfits.
He showed me the stars and I showed him the cliff that I found Arthur on mere months later.
I told him about my past because I knew he was my future.
That was when we said we loved each other.
Back when we didn't know how to truly love.
But we learned.
When Javier brought me stew when Arthur was abducted.
When I fell asleep on Javier because I felt safe with him.
When I went mad with rage about Braithwaites taking Jack, Javier calmed me down.
When we got Jack back, Javier sang that night. I fell in love with his voice about seven times over in the space of a few hours.
When I lost him, I thought I had lost everything.
But when he returned, the world became totally and utterly beautiful again.
And we had our moments.
When I could barely bear to look at him because of the situation with Dutch.
When he left me at the cliff that one time because I didn't have enough faith in Dutch.
But even through that, our love somehow prevailed.
When we attacked Cornwall Kerosene and Tar, we fought together.
We still were in love but separated by a dying gang.
But we've grown since then.
We left the gang behind.
Even if we weren't on the same side.
Even if we aren't perfect.
We love each other immeasurably.
And it's beautiful, I think.
At least, the world is.
Now that I have him in my life.
"I love you, Javier Escuella," I say, and kiss him again.

Why do I find this so sweet????
But yeah.
This is the alternative ending to my book :D
I can't believe that the book as a whole (plus alternate ending) is actually written!
It's a bittersweet feeling.
This last chapter was semi-inspired + driven by the song 'You Are In Love' by Taylor Swift. It's such a nice song (in my opinion).
I sincerely hope that you've all enjoyed this book as much as I've enjoyed writing it.
I just cannot believe this is done, honestly.
Thank you.
