Chapter 3 - Repeated Love

Esme's Point of View

Zack had made the deepest promises a friendship could have and he mamaged to break them all. Each and eveyone of them. He promised he'd always stick by me no matter what happened. He promised we'd always be bestfriends, for now and forever. But he's gone, not physically but mentally, emotionally. I think that's what hurts the most, the fact that he walks around with his head held high, still laughing and cracking jokes. I mean don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore his laughter, but I hate how he doesn't acknowledge me. He doesn't acknowledge my presence, it's like I'm not there. If he sees me in the halls he walks around me. If I'm talking to his friend he'll go talk to someone else. Nobody can blame me for not wanting to trust anyone right now.

After what happened with Zack I had no choice but to find new friends. I had met a new girl named Daisy from my Spanish class and she was super cool. I mean sure she's not well known around school but I think that might be good for me. When she introduced me to her crew there were two other girls Marisol and Bianca along with 4 good looking guys, Jonathan, Caleb, Emanuel and a really cute guy named Ty.

"Everyone this is Esme, she's gonna roll with us from now on" Daisy announced.

"Hi" Ty offered.

"Hey" I replied.

As time went on and I kept hanging out with Daisy and the crew me and Ty grew close. He was quite the gentleman although that's not what he came across as. One day Daisy had a small get together at her place and that's where it all sparked.

The doorbell rang as I sat beside Daisy on her couch sipping on a beer

"it's open" she yelled.

In came the guys making noise and carrying multiple cases of beer.

"Aaaye" she said "awe you guys shouldn't have" she said referring to the beer

"I know but" Ty started

"no really you shouldn't have cause I've got a fridge full but I guess we're really getting wasted tonight" she giggled.

I know when I'll need to stop but as for these guys they'll get tanked to the point where they don't remember anything the next day.

"Put on some musica" Caleb said.

Daisy walked over to her stereo and popped in a cd and before we knew it the voice of Ace of Base's song I Saw the Sign came on, Daisy's all time favorite childhood song.

The door opened and in came Marisol and Bianca with big smiles on their faces "who started the party with out us?" Bianca asked before hoping onto the couch beside Jonathan who offered her a beer.

The night went on and either the music actually got louder or I was really drunk. When Shakira came on Marisol jumped up and pulled everyone off of their seats to dance "I didn't really know she could dance like this " we were too drunk to object so there we were dancing and after the song was over we didn't sit, we kept dancing. Daisy dimmed the lights and out on her plug in disco lights and changed the cd.

While dancing Ty made his way over to me and tapped me on the shoulder. His lips were moving so I know he was trying to say something but the music was way too loud and I couldn't read his lips so I motioned for him to follow me upstairs where I could hear him. We walked upstairs where we've all hung out before but Daisy's parents like it better when we hang downstairs. Their basement has its own entrance so we don't have to bother her family upstairs too.

"What's up? Something wrong?" I questioned.

"No - I mean - ye - yes. I mean no."

Ty never stutters, he's really smart and he's confident in everything he does and says.

"Ty? What's wrong?"I could feel his eyes looking at me in the dark.

"Esme I know what happened with you and Zack. I know Zack did to you. I know how fucked things got and I get it if you still need time but I want to outright tell you and not send mixed signals." My heart started to race. Nobody has mentioned Zack to me in a long time. But what really confused me was what Ty was trying to say.

"mhm" I said encouraging him to go on.

"Esme I like you. I like you alot. I've been attracted to you since Daisy first introduced you to us. I think you're a sweet chick and I want to get to know you better. What do you think?"

I was silent and then I started to sob. I tried to quietly wipe my tears away when I felt his fingers slide against my cheek. "Shit. I'm sorry Esme, I really didn't mean to upset you" he apologized.

"Oh no Ty, please don't apologize, you did nothing wrong. It's just I like you too but I'm scared of what might happen."

"Oh Esme I would never"

"No Ty don't. Please don't. Don't promise me anything. I think that's what makes him leaving harder. He promised he never would and then he did just that."

"Come here" he whisphered pulling me in until my head was up against his chest. Something about that hit me and I started to uncontrollably cry. His hands rubbed my back "it'll be okay Esme, I'm here now" he whisphered as he kissed the top of my head.

A few moments passed before I pulled away from him "should we go back down before they get suspicious?" I asked but then the sound of tumbling and then running answers my question.

We walk back down and all of them are dancing and giggling as if we didn't know that they were listening. "Both of you get lost on your way to the bathroom?" Emanuel chuckled before getting elbowed by Caleb

"no they both went up to see Daisy's dog. Come on guys be resonable" he said sarcastically.

"Can it" was all it took from Ty to get them to shut up.

I grabbed another beer and walked over to the couch where I was drowned in questions. "Is he a good kisser?" Bianca asked.

"Is it offical?" Marisol asked.

"I don't know what you guysare talking about" I smirked and quickly changed topics "so you guys have any plans for tomorrow?"

"Nope" they said in sync.

I was way too wasted to attempt to get home by myself so I wobbled over to the guys and draped my arms around Ty's shoulders from the back "take me home" I asked.

"one more beer then we'll go?" I nodded and walked back to the girls.

"Time to go?" Marisol asked. I nodded and slid on my coat.

Daisy got up and hugged me "we need to talk tomorrow, so call me" she whisphered. "I'll see you tomorrow" she said louder. I turned to leave when she asked a question "wait, how you getting home?"

Ty walked towards us and said

"that would be me and we are leaving now, so no more questions Vasquez"

I giggled at his snobby remark and closely followed him. When we passed the guys I waved bye and he said "later" I could barely walk our of Daisy's driveway I was so drunk which was definitely strange because I'm pretty sure Ty had more to drink than I did. Ty looked down at me "you okay Salinas?"

"Ye-wooah" and I had dropped. Right into the hands of Ty.

He chuckled "you are everything but okay, maybe we should go to the park and sit for a while so you can sober up before going home."

I looked up at him from in his arms, "that would be a good idea if I had parents to worry about but I don't so why don't we just heaf right over to my place?"

"Cool by me" he replied. We were walking undwr a street light and I continued to stare at him "what are you looking at?" He playfully growled.

"You have beautiful eyes" he laughed

"exactly how many beers did you have?"

"A few too many thats for sure"

"I figured" he smiled and kept walking. At every step, my head hit his chest so I decided to make it easier for him and wrap my arms around his neck and lean my head against his chest. I must have fallen asleep in his arms because I could feel him nudging his hand against me.

"Esme, Esme wake up."
