2 weeks later...

Ty's Point of View

"I'll take these" I said to the young man standing behind the counter snipping roses. He looked about 22 and wore an apron covered in dirt along with a big smile.

"That'll be $8.75 please." He joyfully said as he punched the numbers into the cash register. He was right to be joyful, hell, I was joyful. The doctors said that Esme could be discharged this morning and what a better greeting than a big bunch of her favourite flowers, lillies. I walked over to the elevator and pushed the up button.

"Level 5" the automated voice said as the doors opened. I walk towards Ella's room only to find the door shut, the doctor must be in there. I waited outside her door for 15 minutes until I asked one of the passing nurses who was in there and her saying a visitor. I entered the room under the impression that I would see Cara but instead there was Zack standing by the windowsill.

Esme's Point of View

The nurses had just left the room after checking in on me when Zack arrived. He'd been visiting me over the weeks that I'd stayed in the hospital but usually when Ty wasn't around. He came in today, and in the softest way possible, made it clear that we needed to talk. "You know Esme, I haven't seen you in years, let alone keep any sort of contact. I get it if you hate me and everything I stand for. But please believe me when I say that if I knew that you were pregnant with my child, things would have been very different." He sighed and I wasn't sure what to say. "Esmerelda I fucked up. Big time but it's clear that you've moved on with your life and you've got it all figured out. I know it may come across as selfish but -" he stops midsentence as the door opens without a knock. Shit.

"What's he doing here?" Ty asked. Zack opened his mouth to speak but was shut up by Ty immediately "you left her before you even knew that you knocked her up! You let her go through the rest of highschool miserable and alone. So Esme forgive me for being upset that he thinks that he can just come into your life, pick up where he left off and play daddy for Sean until you get tired and walk away again!"

Zack had balls to sit down beside me as if he hadn't heard a word that Ty just yelled. He looked into my eyes and then bowed his head. "Look, when I got that call, I was shocked and I wasn't going to come but I didn't know who it was so I did. When I found out it was you, all the memories of us as friends, and flashbacks of what happened hit me hard. And ontop it all, not only did I find out that I'm the father of your kid, but I met him. Ty, I didn't mean to upset you with all of this. What I really came to say is that I don't think it's a good idea for me to be apart of Sean's life" he got up and I could see the pain in his eyes. He reached into his back pocket, pulled out an envelope and handed it to me "it's all I could come up with on a short notice. It's five grand, use it on rent, start his college fund, do as you please. I'll get out of your way now. Take care Esmerelda. Ty."

"Zack wait!" I yelled. "Ty, give us a moment?" He nodded and stepped outside. I patted the bed beside me for him to come sit "I know this isn't what you want, I can see the pain in your eyes." I looked up at him with swollen eyes only to see his eyes red and teary. "If Ty wasn't apart of the picture I know you'd want to stick around." I whisphered, knowing he was listening from outside. I continued whisphering "I'm still in love with you Zack, I always have been and I probably always will. I promised you that I would never stop loving you and that's exactly what my heart is doing. Don't get me wrong, I love Ty but you'll always be my first true love." I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him. "Thank you for coming Zachary, it means a lot. Take care of yourself and maybe one day, we'll be able to come to terms with what happened back then." He nodded his head and wiped his eyes before leaving the room and allowing Ty to enter.

"You okay mama?" He asked.

I nodded "I could use a hug" he wrapped his arms around me like a big bear and kissed the tip of my head. I buried my face in his chest and I tried my hardest for him not to see how much pain I was actually in. Half an hour later when the pain started to ease, we packed up my stuff and when to the nurses' station to get checked out.

"Okay,  just sign here and here and we'll see you in three weeks for a check up. Feel free to call us if you have any questions." The preppy nurse peeped. Ty wrapped his right arm around my waist and carried my bags in his other hand. He parked his car right up front. I slid into the front seat and waited for Ty to get in. "Can I ask you for something?" He arched his eyebrow, "do you think Cara would mind watching Sean for one more night? I kind of want tonight to be just the two of us."

He smiled and took my hand in his, "of course my love, anything you'd like" He let go of my hand and pulled out of the parking lot. Was I asking for too much? Maybe I need to see my son after being away from him for so long. "Actually, can we pick Sean up on the way home?" He chuckled, shook his head and made a u-turn.
