Kriya felt the cool morning breeze against her face as the car sped through the quiet streets. The early hour of 4 a.m. seemed cruel, especially when they'd been practically tossed out of the mansion by Don, their bags hurriedly packed for a trip she hadn't even wanted. Her mind replayed his cryptic words from the night before, each one gnawing at her like a thorn she couldn't remove. Was it a warning? A threat? She couldn't decide.

The car ride was oppressively silent, broken only by the rhythmic hum of the tires against the road. Reyansh sat beside her, leaning back with his eyes shut and earphones in, lost in his own world—or deliberately avoiding hers. She stole a glance at him, his profile bathed in the faint glow of passing streetlights.

"What can change in ten days?" she mused silently, leaning back against the seat. The weight of uncertainty pressed down on her. Her leave request had been approved, but the thought of Masoof's inevitable anger made her stomach churn. She could already picture his disappointed scowl, the unspoken reproach in his eyes. She had let him down before, but this felt like the final straw—a blow she wasn't sure her career could withstand.

Letting out a quiet sigh, she closed her eyes, trying to will her racing thoughts to rest. Yet, deep down, she couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that this trip was about to change everything—one way or another.

"Kriya, wake up," Reyansh's voice broke through her half-asleep haze, accompanied by a light shake of her arm. Her eyes fluttered open, and she hastily sat upright, blinking as she tried to orient herself.

She climbed out of the car and stretched, taking in her surroundings. It wasn't the bustling airport terminal she'd expected but a quiet, expansive space that seemed in the middle of nowhere. The faint glow of the rising sun lit up the open ground, making the stillness feel surreal.

"Are we not going to the airport?" she asked, confusion etched across her face as she turned to look at him.

Reyansh let out a soft chuckle, his hands slipping into the pockets of his trousers. "Airport? Really?" he asked, his tone laced with amused disbelief. "Kriya, I'm not that cheap, and neither is Don. We don't do commercial flights. We have a private jet. It'll be here any minute."

Her jaw nearly dropped. "Private jet?" she repeated, her voice barely above a whisper.

He raised a brow, clearly enjoying her reaction. "What? You didn't think we'd stand in security lines and argue over overhead luggage space, did you?"

Kriya's stomach churned as reality set in. A private jet? The thought was so far removed from her world that she struggled to process it. As if things couldn't get more intimidating, she realized she was stepping deeper into their lifestyle, one that felt as foreign as it was overwhelming.

"Right," she muttered, glancing at the horizon as the faint hum of an approaching aircraft filled the air. The ground beneath her feet suddenly felt unsteady. This trip wasn't just a vacation—it was a whole new level of chaos she hadn't signed up for.

Kriya sank further into the plush leather seat, her mind still reeling from the surreal experience. She had never been in a vehicle like this—luxurious beyond anything she'd ever imagined. Soft, opulent leather cradled her, and the quiet hum of the jet's engines only heightened the sense that she was no longer in the real world. As they were served breakfast and drinks by impeccably dressed staff, she found herself trying to absorb every detail, too overwhelmed to even taste her food.
