The Evern Rulers

Ambushed

We walked through tons of grasses and trees . Dents says that the man "Veneni " told them to start moving farther west and find the Kingdom of Evern. We trudged and dragged our feet. Everyone seemed to be tired and sleepy except for Mira and Curen. They seemed to have tireless energy , and Mira was doing quite well on her crutches. We finally stopped at a small stream in the middle of the forest . Char took first shift then Julius took the second. I had a good ,sweet rest. We had a long and rough day both behinds us and a more unimaginable day ahead of us. I was finally awoken to take the next shift until morning. The crickets chirped , the stars twinkled , and the wind brushed against the trees. The sound set a wonderful melody and I quickly droused. Eventually things became quieter, things we're less visible  and the whole world itself became distant and faded. All was replaced by soft sleep. Then I awoke to a close morning. The sun had not yet risen, but was not far off. Everything was peaceful but something didn't feel quite right. Suddenly I knew something was definitely wrong. I awoke Mira thinking she could help me. She awoke with haste, but instantly became alert to the same feeling I was given. " Amarah what's wro- " suddenly out of the blue a bunch of black forms started to raid the camp. They were strange beasts. None either of you knew of They started to tear the camp up and  everyone started to wake up, and then One of the monsters instantly went for me and Mira. Mira dodged it easily, but I wasn't too lucky. It landed on me with a hard thud. It's enormous jaws went for my face. My hands pushed it's leathery skin back to keep it from getting to me. All of the creatures were black, leathery, dog like creatures the size of a pony. I grabbed a thick branch while he was momentarily distracted and put it up to him and pushed with my arms and legs throwing him back onto me . Everyone was up , Dente and Char were fighting two of them back to back Julius was wrestling one of them and looked like was trying to suffocate it also. Then I saw Mira and Curen fighting three of the beasts side by side in front of a wall /cliff wall. They seemed to fight well together. They were Fast , quick eyed, vicious , and skilled. Even though there were three they fought them well. After what seemed forever we started to win against them . Mira kicked down one of the last ones. We were all tired , shaky , and sweaty. Mira smiled and raised her hands in the air “Yes we have conquered the evil beasts”. I plopped onto the ground out of exhaustion. When everybody had just begun to relax the was a strange sound . It was the sound of a horn

“ a conical horn” Curen specified . i looked at her . She looked back at me worriedly " this war has just begun "
