Chapter 23
Jai and I were hanging out, watching Teen Wolf until Jai's stupid phone had to ring, indicating that he got a text message. Jai looked at the text message after sending me an apologetic look. He smiled, shutting his phone off as he did so.
I heard a faint knock on the door. "I'll get it," I shot up from my seat, hoping that it was one on the girls. I fixed my hair slightly before opening the door, revealing a blond, slim girl who was somewhere near my age.
"Who are you?" I questioned, quirking up an eye brow at the unknown girl. She smiled sheepishly at me before putting her luggage down.
"I'm Jai Brooks' friend, Caitlyn Winters," she stuck out her hand, waiting for me to shake it. I shook it almost hesitantly, smiling sweetly at her. Jai never mentioned a Caitlyn coming over, or staying over for quite some time.
"I'm Mackenzie, or Mack," I threw my hand back from her grip, eyeing her skeptically. There's something about this girl that I didn't like, I just felt this unfamiliar vibe coming from her that stated that you couldn't trust her.
"Caitlyn!" Jai shouted, opening his arms for the blond haired girl. Cajtlyn ran into them, closing her eyes shut as she hugged him tightly. I rolled me eyes at the sight of it, they didn't have to make a big deal out of it.
"I've missed you so much Jai," the two of them walked back to the living room, forgetting about me like I was invisible. Well, if other people could see me, then I'm not.
"I missed you, too," Jai smiled down at her considering she was two heads under whereas I was just one head under.
We all took our seats, Caitlyn sitting a cross from Jai and I sitting next to Jai with my arm tightly wrapped around him. He smiled at me, kissing my cheek softly before returning his attention back to Caitlyn.
"I heard that there was a carnival out here, we should go," Caitlyn suggested, grinning widely. "I heard that it's really fun."
"Sure, we could go. Mack, you up for that?" Jai looked down at me, quirking up an eye brow which made him look adorably adorable.
"Yeah, can I invite Malaycia and Makayla?" I questioned, getting up from my seat.
"Sure, go ahead," I walked away from the long lost best friends, heading up the stairs and walking towards our room. I walked in, grabbing my phone off of the bed, calling Malaycia first.
"Hey," Malaycia answered after four rings. "What's up?"
"We're going to the carnival," I answered. "Do you want to come? You could invite Luke, too."
"Hold on," Malaycia began to shuffle around the house, muffled voice being heard through the phone. "Sure, we'll go."
"Perfect, see you later alligator," I laughed before hanging up, looking for Makayla's number. I waited for her to answer, and on the second ring she did.
"Hello?" She questioned, the boredom heard throughout her voice.
"Hey, Mak!" I shouted throughout the phone even though I was slightly jealous and angry that Caitlyn was here. "We're going to a carnival including Malaycia and Luke. Do you want to join?"
"Can I bring Brent?" She questioned, hope laced within her voice.
"Sure, I don't see why not," I smiled, mentally jumping up because my friends we're coming and all of our lovers are going to be there, well, that is if Caitlyn doesn't flirt with Jai.
"Yay!" She shouted, practically ruining my ear drums. "Thanks, Mal, bye."
"Bye," I hung up, throwing my phone on the bed. I went up to my side of the closet, trying to find something to wear.
