Matt

Well. That came out of nowhere.

"Do you want us to be a proper thing, Matty?"

Oh, hell. Hell. Hell! What was this?! How the fuck was I supposed to reply? The answer was obviously yes, but... what if he rejected me? What if it was a joke?

What the hell. He asked me, anyway. So I pulled his head closer to my face, all the while giving him room to escape if he needed. He didn't struggle or move.

"Yes," I breathed, and glorious sun-like Mello kissed me again.

Damn.

It wasn't exactly our first kiss. We'd had lots before, most just us mucking around. But nothing like this.

“Happy birthday,” he whispered, and I chuckled through his lips.

Minutes later, I heard the door open, while we were midway through yet another kiss. I looked up, while not breaking the liplock, and saw the shee- Near, standing in the doorway. He saw everything - the kisses, the hands where they shouldn't be, Mello's shirtlessness.

I ignored him, and went back to kissing Mello. I heard what could have been a sob, and could also have been a gasp. The door clicked behind him. Mello jolted below me.

"What was that?"

“Nothing. Just the wind."
