Anyway, enough of my interruption, I'll let you read what you came for:------------------------------------------------------
"How did you do this again?" The nurse asked while cutting the bandage so it fit round my hand.
"She fell dropping a glass." Wyatt covered for me. I gave him a grateful smile and he weakly returned, obviously he didn't want to make up an excuse. "Something about your blood... it's... different." The nurse told herself but loud enough for me to hear. She brushed it off, thankfully. After a few more questions that were so vague I avoided the actualt answer, Wyatt and I left the room and I started to go to the debate. "Where are you going?" Wyatt grabbed my forearm gently the moment we turned different directions.
"Going to the debate, then I'm heading to start a new job." I told him, "we can meet up later." I reassured him and he let me go.Commotion buzzed through the hall of a see of green, blue, pink and yellow. "Finally you're here! What took you so long?" Eliza dragged me up the stage when Zed called me up.
"You'll do great." Zed whispered and patted my back. I coughed nervously before starting to talk, not planned but I'll get through it."Bucky is all about the 'traditional way', where Zombies and Humans are segregated. Your best friend, your partner could be of a different species and with Bucky in charge it will go back to the way it was." Now I was getting into it, "The reason that zombies are accepted is because of Zed. If he didn't have such ambitions to be equal then this would never have happened. We need to look to the future than go back to the ways we were in." I finished earning a round of applause and chants of 'Whitney! Whitney! Whitney!' When I stepped off the podium.
"Thanks Whit!" Zed hugged me extatically and I laughed before playfully shoving him off.
"Now get back up there, you've got a debate to win." I shoved him much like yesterday causing his stumble onto the stage.
"It is my mission to save our traditions. I have a goal in mind and you'll end up back underground." Buckey glared at Zed.
"I'm the one who stands up for the people and treat everyone as equals." He debated back.
"He's thoughtful and a natural born leader. If you think about it, Buckey is neither." Eliza joined in.
"I'm a cheer rockstar, I am a shoo in to win." Buckey laughed. "I know I'll make the better president. I am a real human." Oh how I so wanted to expose myself then, "and he is a monster. What's saying they don't turn back to their old ways?" That caused people to mutter and whisper to other humans around them leaving the zombie's uncomfortable.
"That is the exact reason Buckey can't win! He is being racist towards Zombies who are more human than you-" I spat at him, "-because they show emotions, that they actually care. They are not righteous like you." My interruption ended with me standing on stage next to Zed.
"Thank you." Zed whispered before retaliating, "If we are monsters, then we wouldn't join cheer. We wouldn't have won those football games that got you that new cheerleader facility as Whit told you yesterday."
"Who would you prefer to lead you, a human who you know you'll be safe around, or a zombie who can lose control any second. He proved that last year at the football championship final."
"I want to change Seabrook for the better. Like having zombie taught as a lesson, having zombie holidays, food served for both species. As an added perk, no homework!" He won the crowd over with the last line I bet.
Like the toddler he is, Buckey stormed out the hall being followed by the Acey's. Weirdly, I swear I saw Jacey give me a thumbs up and mouth 'good job' before hurrying to catch up. Eliza, Zed, Bonzo and I walked to Eliza's locker for her to grab her stuff then we were going to leave. "Addi, look who's with them..." a voice said poking round the corner of the hall. I saw Brie and Addison standing awkwardly not knowing what to do. "Addison and Brie are there, you guys do over. I'm guessing they don't like me and they have perfect reason to." I stopped my train of thought spilling looking at their confused expressions, "I'm going to go, so nothing happens. See you tomorrow." I walked around the other corner but stopped wanting to hear their conversation.
