"Look who won! I'm the most rusty and I still managed to beat you." I teased Wynter and Wyatt. We raced to the school because we wanted to let off some steam. Willa thought it childish and ran with her pack instead.
"Yeah yeah we get it." Wynter pouted, "Whitney?" See what I mean about the mood swings?, "-are you going to show people you're a wolf?" Last week would've been a definitive no, but now it's ok that people know. If they don't like it then that's their problem, I can't change my genetics and even if I could I wouldn't. "Yeah, about time I was myself." Wyatt walked up to me and kissed me before we parted because I was going to see the results of the election.I caught up to Bonzo, Eliza and Zed to see him stressing out to the point of explosion. "Hey Whitty Wolf." Eliza joked. Not a fan of the name, can't say I blame her though.
"Ok let's never call me that again." We laughed until I turned the corner looking at Zed's posters. He designed these himself, not in a million years would Eliza let Zed appear so...so Human! The zombie didn't look like a zombie, he looked like a human. What happened to wanting equality? Zed said he wanted change, but what he's done is change himself to get votes. It's like he's completely forgotten who he is, I should've seen it coming. In the cafe he kept telling the wolves to 'fit in' and go along with the crowed instead of being themselves. I'm glad the wolves are not push overs because no one should ever change to suite others, I know from personal experience how haunting and paranoid the person becomes. Because of this, if he wins, he cannot act like himself, he'll have to act how the humans want him to."Don't you think these posters are a little too... human?" Eliza agreed with my thoughts. Bonzo said something, I think he was agreeing because Zed scowled at him.
"Zed these are just ruining all the campaigns we've done! Why did you do this anyway? Is it because you want to win that much you'll change yourself?" I snapped before he could answer. His face turned red- surprising change from the white- and he didn't look angry, he just looked embarrassed.
"This-" he pointed to his poster, "-will get me votes." Was that what his excuse was? "And you're one to talk miss I've-been-in-hiding." He knew he crossed a line with that one.Zed shrunk slightly awaiting for me to retaliate. But how can I yell at someone who's telling the truth. "Whit, I'm so-"
"No, no you're right. I did hide myself, I did for about forty years so I deserve it. I'm just telling you from experience to not change to fit others." I had to keep repeating it was ok until he got it.Just then, the Acey's and Buckey sauntered passed with their smug smiles they always wore. "When I win, it's back to the basement for you." He sneered to Zed, Eliza and Bonzo. I stepped infront of him, letting my power flow just enough so my eyes glowed gold, "good thing you're gonna lose then isn't it?" He backed away in fear, so did Lacey and Macey.
"I have had enough of this. I'm not going to follow you around like some pet you call in when you need me." Jacey broke the formation and spoke to Buckey, not just spoke, but stood up for himself. "I'd rather someone like Zed or Whitney become President than someone like you! I quit!" The two Acey's gasped in suprise, they were not expecting this.
"I knew you were a bad choice! Why couldn't you be more like Tracey was?" Buckey snapped back. Jacey crossed his arms awaiting for the three to leave, and they did."Never thought I'd see the day..." Zed commented aloud.
"Hey guys, so erm... sorry I guess? Do you mind if we start over?" He asked all of us. I was the first to accept because he was the nicest out of the Acey's. One, he helped me when I had that arguement with Brie, two, she smiled and gave me a thumbs up when Zed won over the crowed, and three, he admitted to being like a lap dog for Buckey and stood up to the other Acey's plus Buckey just.Eventually we made it to the hall where the voting will be casted. Zed took a little longer as he wanted to talk to Addison. God forbid he tell me what it was about, he completely avoided the multiple times I asked.
We entered to stares, gasps and people were taking small steps into the crowed, away from Zed. I looked up seeing Zed's poster completely Zombified. He looked the same as he did in The Den, only a thousand times worse. The veins were more distinctive, there was red in his teeth, skin paler than a vampire (if they're even real, with this place you never know). "He's done this on purpose! He-he's made me out to be a monster!" Zed exclaimed.I don't know what happened next. One moment I was looking at the posters dangling from the ceiling and the next Zed had gone in Zombie mode again. Everyone shrieked from the scene, clambered higher up the bleachers- how come nobody is smart enough to run out the door if they're that afraid?
"Zed! Zed take that thing off the band!" Eliza yelled. Forthwith, my sight shot to his band, that ******* took the moonstone? Who in the world does he think he is messing with Wolves like that! It's not just a normal moonstone- eventhough that is dreadful too- it's the Great Alpha's!
Subsequent to my thoughts to get out of hand, he threw the stand table out into the crowed. With the wolf strength, I dived for it grabbing the stand and tumbling to the ground. My back ached for a while, but I can deal with that later. "ZED!" Once again he stared at me with curiosity, "look at your band." Slowly I stepped forward like I was trying to tame a lion, "that's it. Now look at the blue gem. Do you see it? Yeah? Grab it and throw it to Eliza." He followed my commands and did as I said after I said it.
He fell limp like I did in the cheerleaders practice. Even thinking of that day made me shudder... "I told you he was a monster! We can't have a monster as president!" Buckey shouted off the side. I know he was the one who caused this to happen, no one else in this school is bravely idiotic enough to do so. "He's the monster? You did this! Just like what you did last year! I'm sorry but he is not fit to be president." I told the Headmistress.
"I have no say in the matter Whitney, it is down to the school." She turned to face the students. Gingerly, they all returned to their original seating but kept their distance from Zed. "All those in favour of Buckey?" Only the Acey's raised their hands, bearing in mind that's only two now. "All those for Zed?" Still, no one chose him. They were the only two candidates, surely one of them must win. "All those for Whitney?" She... raise... vote... what? I did not sign up to become the president! I never wanted to be it, I just want a relaxing school life! They better not vote for me- everyone raised their hand. FOR GOD SAKE! Just a day I couldn't have gone without something unexpected happening? Is that too much for simple, young me?
Maybe I can be the president... I did write all of Zed's speeches. Eliza and I came up with his campaign ideas, perhaps it won't be that bad. Equality for everyone, being a leader will get my voice heard. I can do this! Now I need to give Zed a piece of my mind, find Addison, get to the powerplant with the wolves, and save my race in one day! Not that hard... oh who am I kidding it's going to be almost impossible.
