Chapter Five: You're Undead to Me
*~*~*~*
"And how did I know that I'd find you here?" A smirk filled Brigs' lips when the front door to the Gilbert household opened up to reveal the one and only Garrett Sullivan rather than someone that actually resided in the home. In the three days since the Founder's Party the Turner woman had hardly seen any of her friend-- a friend that had supposedly traveled from New York to catch up with her. Instead he had found himself busy with the company of a certain Sommers woman.
"Good morning to you too," Garrett chuckled as he stepped back, allowing her to slip past him before he closed the door again.
"Brigs!" Jenna's eyes nearly doubled in size when she appeared in the kitchen doorway, not having expected to see her friend so early in the day. Her hazel eyes quickly darted between the Turner woman and the Sullivan man, trying to concoct a story on the spot. "I can--"
"Don't worry about it," Brigs waved it off as the trio all settled around the kitchen together. Garrett and Jenna each returned to their seats at the table while Brigs made herself at home, grabbing a cup out of the cabinet before pouring herself some coffee. "It's not as though you two have been subtle about anything the last few days. You've practically been tied at the waist."
"I guess it makes us even," Jenna shrugged.
"Even?" Brigs questioned as she took the seat to Jenna's right, directly across from Garrett.
"Well we have known each other for a couple of years now and you never once mentioned knowing such a polite and handsome man. You were holding out on me," Jenna pointed out.
"You weren't even living in Mystic Falls for most of that time," Brigs pointed out. "Besides, he was busy with his own life in New York."
"Details," Jenna shrugged.
"Jenna! Are you aware of what's going on upstairs?" Elena questioned her aunt as she hurried into the kitchen, only noticing Garrett and Brigs' presence once the words had escaped her lips.
"Uh-huh," Jenna nodded, knowing that Elena was referring to the fact that Jeremy had Vicki Donovan over.
"And you have no objection?" Elena pressed.
"He could be craftier about it; at least make an effort to sneak her in and out." Jenna offered a small shrug of her shoulders. After all, this was the sort of thing she had expected when she had signed up to raise two teenagers.
"And it's not as though she has much room to judge when she's having someone stay the night herself. Would be a bit hypocritical of her," Brigs mused, grinned at her friends over the top of her coffee mug.
"That's enough from you!" Jenna didn't hesitate to slap her on the arm before turning her attention back to her niece. "Oh, and, uh, just so you know, I won't be home for dinner."
"Oh, so this thing is leaving the confines of your bedroom?" Elena teased, earning a high-five from Brigs in the process.
"He did insist on taking me out for a real date," Jenna conceded.
"As any gentleman should," Garrett chimed in.
"Besides, it'll be nice being able to rub our happiness in Logan's face." Jenna grinned at the possibility. As much as she did truly like Garrett, even if she'd only known him for four short days, there was certainly the added benefit of their blossoming relationship hurting Logan Fell. "And have you heard from Stefan?"
