Unexpected (Neji x Oc)

Chapter 9: First mission

Kyla Pov:

I live with my sensei, like I have since I left the leaf, he's practically a father to me now, of course he will never replace my real father but he is like him. I fiddled with my leaf headband that i Got given yesterday when I got home, I traced my finger over the engraving of the leaf symbol and sighed lightly this is my home now, this is where I live and train.

I tied my headband around my forehead leaving hair at either side of my face to dangle down and tied my hair back in a pony tail, I then put on my normal attire before leaving to go site seeing. 

I walked down a busy street that looked oddly familiar to me, I was drawn to this one cafe, it smelt fantastic and the building looked like something i'd dreamt or somewhere i'd been. I walked through the door and the lady on desk dropped a plate with a cake on as she stared at me. People looked at me, most just turned around uninterested and unsure of who I am but two ladies, both at the counter just stared at me and it made me uncomfortable, I was starting to debate staying here but my stomach rumbled.

"Mikoto Uchiha? I thought you died" the one who dropped the cup muttered.

"No actually I'm Kyla Uchiha, her daughter" i stated softly and they both looked up shocked.

"We heard you left to train, we assume you'd died too, nobody heard from you" the other, much older, lady stated and i just smiled at her before ordering a cake but I noticed a guy with long hair and white eyes was staring at me, great. 

I sat down with my cake and began happily eating in silence when the boy, who must be a hyuga sat with me, getting a closer look at him, he resembled Neji, but I wasn't going to ask in case it wasn't him. "Is it true you're Kyla Uchiha" he asked curiously yet sternly.

"in the flesh" I muttered with a mouth full of cake and he just stared at me before asking "do you know who I am?" I brought my hand up to behind my neck and sheepishly scratched behind my neck. "Well I think you're Neji but I can't say that with complete certainty" I stated before shovelling more cake into my mouth.

"Why did you just leave? you never said goodbye, there was no warning you just stopped showing up to class, and stopped meeting us, nobody knew what happened!"

"If it makes you feel better I didn't know I was going until the morning then I was packed up and gone in the matter of an hour but y'know I'm getting this feeling, nobody is happy i'm back" I muttered thinking back to seeing Sasuke last night.

"No, I am happy to see you, and it was your destiny to leave, we just wish we knew about it" 

I then saw a hawk go past the window, well that's my call "Sorry Neji i'm being called for a mission"

"stop by the compound later, maybe we can train?" he asked 

"sure thing" i accepted with a smile on my face before wandering where on earth his compound is.

I reached the Hokages office where Mr Hokage-stand-in sat "Sir whats my mission?" I asked with a light bow and he smiled at me lightly before explaining.

"Earlier today, Itachi Uchiha and his partner who we believe to be Kisame Hoshigaki were spotted in the village earlier today, they defeated Kakashi Hatake, one of our elite ninja, and Gai, Kurani and Asuma were also in this battle but the Akatsuki left before hand. Sasuke Uchiha over heard a conversation and left to find Itachi with intent of killing him, find Sasuke, bring him back and if possible bring an Akatsuki member beck, dead or alive. They're after Naruto Uzumaki, the nine tails fox, under no circumstance are they allowed to get that boy, the toad sage should be there too, as an ally, they will be in this town" he stated before handing me a slip of paper, it isn't too far away I should be able to get there in thirty minuets.
