C H A P T E R 2| I'm shaking. But even with the crisp morning air I'm not cold. I feel someone's hands on my arm and realize that someone was trying to wake me up.I quickly open my eyes and pull myself out of my sleeping position on the bench. I see a little boy standing in front of me with a goofy smile on his face. I give him a small smile and a little wave.
I'm not sure how I didn't scare the little boy off. My hair was expertly designed by the wind from last night, with some knots, tangles, and the wind was ever so generous to add more than a little volume in my hair. My eyes were swollen from the oceans I have cried and my breath most likely smells horrid. In short terms, I looked awful.
I quickly took a glance around the park and didn't see anyone else besides the little boy.
"Where is your family little man?" I ask.
He giggles and points to one of the four gateways to the park.
"Mai pawents ow ovah daw." He responds. I smile at his little accent.
"What are you doing all the way over here than?" I ask, still wondering why he approached me.
"I sawed you sweepin and is mowning so I hewp you get up." He giggles again. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Aw thanks little man," I say and I genuinely mean it. I've know this kid for one minute and he already has my heart. "I think you should go back to you're parents so that they don't wonder where you are. Ok little man?" He nods.
I reach in the pocket for something and when I find it I take his hands and set it in them.
"Why don't you go and ask you're mommy and daddy to take you out for ice cream? Now you can be a big boy and pay all by yourself." He nods again more giddy then he was two seconds ago. He jumps up and down giggling and then wraps his little hands around me.
I haven't felt this happy in such a long time.
And the I realized something.
Shit. I have school.
Mother should be at work by now so no one should be home. I study my surroundings trying to figure out where I was. I was in such weird phase last night that I couldn't remember which way I had gone.
Remembering I had my phone in my back pocket, I pulled it out and searched for google maps. It didn't take long before I started my run back home.
The houses seemed empty and the neighborhood quiet. It was a peaceful feeling to only have the exhilarating feeling of adrenaline pumping through my veins as the birds chirped without a care while I ran by.
I hadn't noticed it before but my cheek had started throbbing and I realized that I would need a lot of concealer to hide it. Hopefully nobody noticed the extra layers on my face.
I finally made it home to see both of my moms car was gone and made my way up the side of the house. Using the water pipe to get to my bedroom window and then prying my window open. After clamoring in and landing on the floor with a thump I quickly made my way to the bathroom for a quick shower.
