Chapter 8

Ever since her talk with Mrs. Fitzgerald that afternoon, Elizabeth thought about what she said. While she did like her, she still wasn't comfortable telling them about her past. As the day dragged on, Elizabeth spent the majority of her time in her room with Coraline. As she played with Coraline, she heard a knock on her door.

"Who is it?" Elizabeth asked.

"Hey, Liz. It's Alex. Can I come in, please?" Came the reply from the other side.

"Um, sure." As soon as he heard the answer, Alex walked into the room with one hand behind his back and a smile on his face.

"Hey, Elizabeth." Alex greeted. "How you doing?"

"Fine, I guess." Elizabeth said with uncertainty. Alex could only frown when he heard that. Ever since the incident at the mall, Elizabeth would isolate herself in her room which worried the brothers. Alex could tell Elizabeth wasn't happy, and he decided to make it his mission to get her to smile. So, he grabbed his unicycle and went out to get something that he thought Elizabeth might like.

"So, I went out and got you something today." Alex said with a smile. Now this caught Elizabeth's attention.

"What did you get me?" Elizabeth asked with curiosity.

"This." Alex answered pulling out the item that he was hiding behind his back. The item was a comic book. As Elizabeth grabbed the comic, she stared at the robot on the cover curiously.

"Building robotics." Elizabeth read. "It looks pretty cool. Thanks."

"No problem, Liz." Alex told her. "Also, Dad says dinner will be ready soon. So comic when you're ready. Hahaha! Get it?" Elizabeth just gave the young comedian a blank look. She didn't quite know how to react to the pun.

As Alex left the room, Elizabeth decided to take a look at the comic and the minute she turned the cover page, she instantly fell in love. She was swept into the action, the adventure, suspense and drama that the comic offered. As she was reading the comic, she heard the dinner call from William.

"Kids! Dinner time!" William called. And if on cue, the ten boys ran out of their rooms and down the stairs with Elizabeth following slowly. As Elizabeth made her way to the kitchen, she took a look at the small table tha sat there and then looked at the dining room table. As she looked back and forth between the two tables, Elizabeth thought back to what Mrs. Fitzgerald said about closing herself off from the family.

"Don't close yourself off. The family in there are doing whatever they can to help you. They are good people with good intentions. You can't let your fear of your past hold you back from getting close to other people." The words echoed through Elizabeth's mind as she thought about where she was going to sit. After thinking it over, she finally made her decision.

William and Vanessa were dishing out dinner for he kids. As William dished out Carter's food, he felt a small tap on his shoulder. He turned around and saw Elizabeth standing behind him running her arm nervously.

"Yes, Elizabeth? What is it?" William asked. Elizabeth looked up at him with an uncertain look on her face.

"Um, does this table have room for one more?" Elizabeth asked with uncertainty. That got everyone's attention. They all looked up from their food and stared at the young eleven year old with shock.

"Of course, honey." William said with a smile. "There's a spot at the end of the table between Chris and Linx." With that, Elizabeth grabbed her food and sat between the infant and the rocker. Christopher flashed her a kind smile as down which Elizabeth returned. While Elizabeth's decision to sit with the family seemed strange, the family decided not to question it. They were just happy that Elizabeth finally decided to join them.

Later that night, everyone was in their room relaxing before it was time to go to bed. Elizabeth was in her room reading the Building Robotics comic that Alex gave her. As she continued to read, she suddenly heard a commotion coming from one of the nearby rooms. Elizabeth considered ignoring it, but the common was very distracting. So Elizabeth decided to investigate. As Elizabeth stepped out of her room, she discovered that the commotion was coming from the twins' room. As Elizabeth peeked in, she saw Liam and Charles arguing.

"How many times do I have to tell you to keep your animals on your side of the room?!" Charles shouted.

"Well, how many times do I have to tell you to keep your stupid gross pink stuff on your side of the room?!" Liam countered. "I don't want your gross pink trash touching my stuff!"

"Well, I don't want your muddy tools and animals touching my suits!" Charles yelled. As the twins continued to argue, Elizabeth watched with silence. She could tell that if someone didn't get involved soon, this argument would get worse. As Elizabeth looked around, she realized that no one was exiting their room to deal with this. With a sigh, Elizabeth realized that she was the only one that could break this up.

"Uh, guys?" Elizabeth said nervously. The twins stopped arguing when they heard Elizabeth's voice. They looked over and saw Elizabeth standing in their door way.

"Oh. Hi, Elizabeth." Liam greeted awkwardly. "What can we do for you?"

"I heard a commotion and decided to investigate." Elizabeth said nervously.

"Oh. Sorry if we disturbed you." Charles apologized.

"That's okay." Elizabeth said. "Why are you guys fighting?"

"Liam's animals keep tracking mud to my side of the room." Charles complained.

"Well, Charles keeps leaving his glitter on my side of the room." Liam retorted.

"Okay. I get that. But why are you guys fighting about it?" Elizabeth asked. Now this confused the twins.

"What do you mean?" They asked in unison.

"Well, you guys are twins." Elizabeth started. "You guys are supposed to be there for each other. You guys are supposed to support one another." The twins shared a glance as Elizabeth continued. "Having a twin means that you will always have someone that will have your back. That you will always have someone that loves you no matter what. It means that when everyone else turns their back on you, your twin will always stand by your side. And you should enjoy every moment that you have with your twin. Because one day they won't be around anymore and then you lose your best friend and the one person that you know will always have your back. You know how I know this?" Liam and Charles, who were starting to get teary-eyed, shook their heads. "I know because I used to have a twin sister. She was someone who I knew I could always count on no matter what. She was my best friend."

"What happened to her?" Charles asked. As soon as he said that, Elizabeth started to shake a little. The twins knew what this meant. It meant that she was trying to fight back tears. However, Liam and Charles couldn't fight back tears anymore.

"I'm so sorry, Charles!" Liam cried.

"I'm sorry too, Liam!" Charles said crying. The boys turned back to Elizabeth and saw that she was still fighting back tears. The twins went up to her and gave their sister a hug. As the three children did their mini group hug, none of them noticed a certain rocker watching the scene with a small smile on his face.

She's starting to open up. Christopher thought. I promise you, Elizabeth, I will do whatever I can to help you. Because you are my little sis and I want to do whatever I can to help you. You have my word.

So. There you have it. Elizabeth bonding with the twins. Now I have felt that Elizabeth and the twins had a good relationship. I don't care what people say, the twins trust Elizabeth and Elizabeth trusts them. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed it. Now, the next chapter will be really important. So stay tuned for that. Until next time, peace!
