Chapter 13

Everyone walked into Goldie and Frederick's room and took a seat with Elizabeth sitting on Goldie's bed. Next to her sat Christopher while Coraline lay on Elizabeth's lap. The rest of the boys sat either on the floor or on Frederick's bed. After she made sure everyone was gathered around, Elizabeth took a deep breath and began to tell her story.

"After my family died in the car crash, I was put into foster care." Elizabeth began. "my parents didn't really have any siblings that were able to take care of me. So they put me in a foster home."

"That was the foster home that you lived in before you came here right?" Goldie asked. Elizabeth nodded.

"Yeah." Elizabeth answered. "Ballora thought I would like hanging out with other girls. So she put me in a foster home with the 10 other girls." Elizabeth stopped talking. She took a deep breath and then continued. "When I first got there, everything started off fine. The other girls were nice to me at first. They were nice at first. They let me join in on their activities and took me to the arcade in the amusement park. It was fun." Elizabeth flashed a smile.

"If you don't mind me asking, what were these girls' names?" Carter asked.

"Phoenix, Susie, Sally, Midnight, Michelle, Taylor, Moonlight, Starlight, Bonnie and Evie." Elizabeth answered. "Like I said, it started off fine. But, I then realized that they weren't as nice as they seemed."

"What do you mean?" Michael asked curiously. Elizabeth didn't answer right away.  The boys understood that reliving these traumatic memories must be hard for Elizabeth, so they understood why she kept pausing.

"Well, when I was living there, I had to share a room with Michelle and Taylor." Elizabeth explained. "The first morning I was there, I fell out of my bed and accidentally woke up Michelle and Taylor. They punched me. Hard."

"Wait. They punched you for waking them up?" Alex asked flabbergasted.

"Yeah. When I was finally able to get out of the room, I ran into Sally." Elizabeth told them. "She told me that she wanted me to help her clean the bathroom. When we walked into the bathroom, I saw that she didn't bring any cleaning supplies."

"I already don't like where this is going." Adrian said grimly.

"When I asked her where the cleaning supplies were, she told me that she was looking at the cleaning supplies. Before I could react, she grabbed me and stuck my head in the toilet and used my head to clean the dirty toilet." Elizabeth shuttered at the memory.

"Was everybody like that?" Frederick asked.

"Yeah." Elizabeth answered. "Every day seemed to get worse. Sally and Michelle like to beat me up every day. It felt like at times, they took turns. But the other girls were just as bad. Midnight would pull cruel pranks on me. Moonlight and Starlight would steal my clothes just because they had no clean laundry. Phoenix and Susie always made fun of me. One time, Phoenix kicked me out of his car because she didn't want me to embarrass her. It was a long walk home."
