Akashi's POV
"Hayame, you're marking Akashi-San"
"N-no way!"
"Yes! You're the only one who doesn't scare stiff when he looks at you!" I couldn't help but chuckle when hearing the girls try and figure out a plan. We were in the middle of P.E. Today's subject just so happens to be basketball. A month had already passed since the last time I even spoke to Shizuko, and I'd been dreadfully bored the entire time. If she was my mark, it would be perfect.
"Akashi-San, were you listening?" I got pulled from my train of thought as the other boys on my team noticed I wasn't paying attention.
"Of course" It was an obvious lie, but no one dared to object me, as usual. My eyes glanced over to the girl at the other side of the gym. She'd put her beautiful long orange hair into a thick braid. She had a couple of nasty bruises on both her arms, as well as a nasty cut at the back of her head, which she'd gone to longs lengths to hide from me. Had that man slammed her into a piece of furniture or something?
I clicked my tounge in irritation just as we were going to our assigned spots. Shizuko avoided meeting my gaze until she had no other choise, standing right infront of me.
"Hello sweetheart" She scowled at me without answering, her eyes telling me that she was already prepared for hell. Marking me was the worst place to be in a situation like this, and she knew it. But she had more determination in her eyes than many of the people I played against in matches. I smiled at her amused. How could I not play seriously against her when she put up a face like that?
I was honestly surprised when she won the tip off, I never would have expected that. I already knew that she was in good shape, but it seemed like she also had an affinity for jumping. Interesting At the beginning of class I'd believed this was going to be a dull session, but now I'd changed my mind. Shizuko was always fun to play with.
She dribbled the ball, studying me with intense concentration. Then she looked at her teammates. I smirked.
"You're not getting past me" I commented and her eyes flared in irritation. She tried to go left, but I intercepted her and she gritted her teeth.
"Nice try"
"I don't need your snappy comments, shut up" I laughed at her, she was the best.
"We've discussed that tone of yours before, haven't we? If you don't pass the ball soon the time is going to run out" She clicked her tounge and tried going right instead.
"Just pass the ball Hayame!" One of the other girls shouted and she glanced at her. Such a shame that you hate getting told what to do so much... It surprised me when she actually tried to pass the ball, but I stopped her and she frowned.
"Since when did you start listening to other people?" She wanted to smile, I could tell, her lips twitching barely. She tried to break past me again, but failed and clicked her tounge.
"Twenty seconds left... You might as well just hand me the ball" She growled, why was she being so quiet? Where had her sharp tounge gone? I tried to steal the ball, but to my surprise she managed to keep it.
"You have nice instincts" I commented and she narrowed her eyes at me. A moment later her eyes glinted. What are you up to now? She smirked at me cunningly.
"I can't break free... And you won't let me pass. That only means I'll have to throw the damned thing from here" She grabbed the ball with both hands as she spoke and jumped. It chaugt me off guard, but I jumped as well, my finger grazed the ball as it left her hands. How was she so fast? We both landed before the ball reached the hoop. There's no way it'll go in. The metal of the hoop clanged as the orange orb crashed into it. After a few rounds rolling around on top of the hoop, the ball finally fell and the hoop whooshed.
