Amon
My sights were still clouded in darkness as I struggled to regain control over my own body, it was a trifle. It was like I had to ask permission to use my body. The broken pieces of my memory were falling back to place. I allowed myself to be manipulated by the demonic presence that was constantly at the back of my mind. For as long as I remembered, it was there, always whispering into the very confounds of my soul. Every second I let it loose, I lose a bit of control. I was terrified. I didn't know its limits, I didn't the full extent of its desires except for the total destruction of everyone and everything.
"You're nothing without me. Ironic, isn't it? To be created for the sole purpose of perfection and yet to be bested by mere maggots."
We had this discussion before. "You keep repeating that but what the hell do you mean by perfection?"
"All will be revealed in due time. Until then, enjoy the time you have," it replied.
"What do you mean?! Answer me, damn it!"
I awoke to the foul smell of rotting flesh. My head was spinning but I could still make out my surrounding. It was dark but we were definitely in the old sewers. I just didn't know which city we were in but the sewers went on and on, an intricate concrete maze covered in rat droppings. The smell was nauseating but bearable. I need to find the others. I attempted to move my right arm, even by an inch. Damn! I needed to spare some time to heal myself. The transformation took more out of me than I could anticipate. It wasn't injuries, more like fatigue. Luckily, I could relieve most of it with magic.
"Come on, Amber. The sewer, really? You'd think that with all that power, you would send me somewhere tropical and sandy!" I complained, flailing my arm around like a baby throwing a tantrum.
I screamed when a huge monster burst out of the sewer water, drenched in an icky, foul substance. It was the Fluxus I vaguely remember at the fight against the Sicarius. I finally remembered the smell I first detected and located its source. In the wide, gaping jaw of the creature was the carcasses of dozens of rats. Even though I knew it was on my side, I couldn't help but fidget as it approached me. I was in no shape for combat after all. To my astonishment, it swallowed all the rats and regurgitated them after a few minutes. I've got to say, I never knew the acid in the stomachs of the Fluxus were so acidic. In mere minutes, the rats were barely recognizable but what was more horrific was he plopped the digested mesh of rat goo onto my lap.
I tried to give him one of my infamous smiles. "You don't expect me to eat that, do you?"
There was no answer. This was uncommon knowledge but the Fluxus had eyes that resembled crocodiles. They have three eyelids, one hidden on the top of it's head. The two more visible eyelids were interchangeable to adapt it to both aquatic and land terrain. It was pretty unsettling to see those two reptilian eyes trained on me. It just stared at me, waiting for me to do something.
"I don't care if you start licking me, I'm not eating that crap," I said with full enthusiasm.
I really wished I didn't say that because it actually did lick me. "God damn it. Well, getting frustrated won't solve anything."
I place my hand over my heart and began to chant. I could feel the fatigue start to disappear as a sensation of warmth washed over it. After 15 minutes, I could move again but it still ached. There was a sudden splash as the Fluxus plunged into the river of god-knows-what.
"Well, I guess you feel more comfortable fighting in the water, huh."
I got to my feet and uttered the light spell. A tiny orb suddenly manifested within my grasp and I tossed it to the centre of of the sewer, illuminating a few feet in both directions. I did not know my sense of direction down here but I was bound to find something if I head either way. I just kept moving in the general direction I was facing.
"You know, I could really use your help here," I said, only to be greeted with utter silence.
I had chanted a detection spell that could sense even the slightest vibration from the ground but I could detect only the scurrying of the rats so far. There were hundred of them so I might miss a few vibrations but it was better than nothing.
"If only Apache was here, he could have used his thermal senses," I sighed.
I still had some of my magic infused daggers but I wouldn't be at my best if i was forced into combat. Plus, I still didn't know where I wound up. The odds are stacked against me but at least I had my magic. Once I recovered enough, I could just cast a teleport spell but I wanted to see if i could scour the area in search of more allies. The mythical creatures do live almost anywhere due to their diverse nature. Out of the blue, the Fluxus burst out of the water with something trapped in it's jaws.
"What the hell!?"
It was an abomination. From what I could see, the beast was lined with scales. It had two eyes but one of them was horribly gouged out of the eye socket. It's jaws were filled with needle-like teeth that was coated with a yellowish substance. It was colossal, roughly the size of the Fluxus itself. There was some sort of mutation that caused the protruding humanoid-like arms that grew on both sides of it's scared flesh. The Fluxus had its teeth clamped securely around the mid-section of the monster. It trashed in the Fluxus's grip but the Fluxus never wavers. There was something glinting on the monster.
"Nice little present you brought me eh, buddy?"
Now. that the aquatic beast had fully been grounded, I could see the glinting part of it's body and it was horrific. The damn thing was a cyborg! Where the tail should have been, there was a prosthetic one. It looked like a clean amputation and the prosthetic looked state-of-art.
"Now, what the hell happened to you, young fella?"
Before I could so much as take another step, two more similar looking beasts sprang from the water to the aid of their ally. One of them clamped onto one of the Fluxus's arms, causing it to wail in agony as it attempted thrash out the monster's hold. I only had my light spell still active but it will have to do. I hurled orbs of pure light, aiming for the eyes before detonating them in a blinding flash. I barely noticed the second monstrosity before it attempted to bite my head clean off. I jerked my head backwards at the exact moment it's jaws closed shut. Fortunately, it was sluggish outside of the murky depths, supporting itself by leaping from the arms.
"Damn, those arms can generate some power eh, ugly?"
It prepared to propel itself again. It leaped but suddenly stopped in midair before being pulled back forcefully by the Fluxus and slammed against the wall. The three horrific mutations were now regrouped as we were on opposite ends. I wasn't that worried to be honest. I still had magic and if the Fluxus was hurt, it didn't show it.
"I'd hate to point it out guys but number won't help you here," I said, grinning with the utmost confidence.
There was a sudden hissing noise as a purple mist started to fill the the main chamber we were in and I was definitely feeling light-headed because of the vapor. The weirdest thing was the effect it had on the non-human beings with me. Both the Fluxus and the mutations stood motionless and not moving as if in a trance. Suddenly, a surge of overwhelming emotions started to manifest within me. To add to my drowsy state, I started feeling lustful? My body started to feel hot as I struggled to regulate my emotions.
"What... the hell... is happening?"
It was in that moments that I heard the steady fall of footsteps that seemed to approach us. I was defenseless to whomever was coming but I stood my ground to at least get a glimpse of my supposed captors.
"Well, what do we have here?"
I forced myself to face the person speaking. It was some sort of soldier but I couldn't see past the visor he had over his face. He had a handgun but it remained in it's holster.
"The boss is definitely gonna want to meet you."
