ZOEY

ive been avoiding jack. anywhere he went i went the opposite.

"you're still avoiding him, huh?" daniel slithered his way next to me. i nod quietly.

"he's mad at me, i think." i mumble watching jack make a attempts to brush past me.
he seemed nervous.

"he's afraid of losing you." daniel stated watching jack's act along with me.

"im afraid of losing him." i admit. for a split second i made brief eye contact with him. he left mine before i could leave his.

"he's here for you." daniel whispered softly, it was zach. it has always been zach. "you're hesitant. you know your faults of losing him. and you cant ignore them." he proceeded.

"i let him down." i mumbled a reply. "he's been through so much. daniel tell me something— have you ever tried writing on crumbled parchment?"

"yes." he responded intently.

"and what was that like?" i inquired.

"messy. a disaster." he replied once more.

"exactly. if i try going back to him, daniel— i wont be the same person."

"you did nothing wrong." he mumbled, "you do realize you haven't been with him for a year, right?" i hadn't realize. "you and zach aren't a thing right now, zoey."

he was right. realization struck. "im still with pollen." i stand up. those pain medications did wonders as i rock back and forth, steadily.

"woah, zoey slow down a bit— w-where are you going?" he stumbled over blankets catching up to me. "you aren't fully recovered— when you take medications like that you need to rest." he shouts roughly, it was like gravel you walk over, or cement you play on to scuff your jean knees.

"medications?— daniel whats going on here?" jack crosses his arms. my body slammed into his as i was walking towards the front door. he didnt move one bit. he hadn't even flinched. "you spend half your life here. yet you're running out for what? destruction?" he was barely a couple of inches taller, but he bent to my height and hissed unperturbed-ly.

"jack, just take a break, man." daniel bothered. he gripped jack's shoulder, and whispered; "brother. you're hurting."

"pollen is still my boyfriend." i continued. "and you're still my friend."

"pollen is a asshole who lives his asshole life cooped up in a small bubble of problems he has consumed because of his no good rich profile." another voice followed up. "but it's your choice." it was corbyn, and he hadn't looked so great either.

"so tell us, zoey." , "how can you love somebody you don't know anymore?"
