Me and Kim were at a nice café. There were booths, and square tables scattered everywhere, and me and Kim were seated at a booth by window. I found it perfect because I could watch people walk by down the street if things got awkward.
So right now, it's just me and Kim waiting on our coffee, and pie as we talked about life, family, anything. "So you had one brother which is Troy, and he is the one who "kidnapped" me." I asked. Kim rubbed the back of his neck, and chuckled nervously. "Yeahhh.. and I'm so sorry about that."
"Wait so what about your dad?" I asked innocently. I could tell I hit a soft spot for him, because his face said it all. "Well my dad is no-." He was cut off by the waiter handing us our drink, and pie. "Here's your food. Enjoy." She placed the food down, with a friendly smile and left.
"So what about your dad?" I said. "Nothing let's just eat." We ate our food, paid for it, and left.
When we were outside the restaurant, we were deciding on how we wanted to get home. "It's a really beautiful night, I think we should walk." I suggested. His eyes wandered around the parking lot, as he thought of an answer. "Alright. Plus I want you to meet Troy." He lead the way to his place, with me beside him.
*Outside Of His Place*
We headed inside with Kim leading the way. "Troy I have someone I want you to meet." I stepped inside the living room, and it looked and smelled the same way it did the last time I was here. I walked behind the couch, and saw there was a picture frame sitting on a brown table.I decided to be nosy, while Kim looked for his brother. I examined the picture and saw a women, who looked like she was in her mid 20s. Long black hair, fair skin, big brown eyes. A man who looked to be in his late 20s, short brown hair, green eyes, but his skin was paler. Two kids who shared the same hair color, different eye color, and one looked two or three years older than the next.
I knew it was them, and I decided to stare at each person on the photo one more time. When I got to the dad, I noticed something I didn't see before. The more I stared, the more clearer it became. It was the guy by the trash cans. Trash can guy. That was his dad?
"Hey Seo Yeon I don't think Troy is here. Seo Yeon?" Kim stopped in front of me, and noticed what I was holding. "What's wrong?" I turned the photo, so he could see and I pointed at trash can guy. "This is your dad..right?" He frowned, and slowly nodded. "Where is he Kim?" I asked my voice almost elevating. "He's..dead."
My whole body fell numb, and my eyes began to water. "He's what?" I asked through my teeth. "Yeah he died like 4 years ago. Why?" I dropped the picture back on the brown table, and ran out of his house. "Wait Seo Yeon!" He followed me outside.
"Can you tell me what's going on?!" He grabbed my wrist, and whirled me around. I sighed, and looked down. "I saw your dad Kim." His faced went to confused, and then to shock. "Where? How?" "Do you remember that scary alleyway with all the homeless people? He was there. So you have to lead me there."
"Okay l-let's go." He said still trying to wrap his head around it.
*At the Alleyway*
I walked past every scary homeless person, until I found where I saw him. When I got there the trashcan was empty like no one had used it for years. I stared at it like it was a mythical creature. "What does your dad have to do with this area?" I turned to face him."Well he and my mom were happily married, and one day my mom just got tired of him. She didn't love him anymore so she found herself a new man, and she kicked my dad out. That man was abusive to me and my brother. Well that man decided he didn't love my mom anymore, and that's when she got into drugs, and alcohol. Once I found out where my dad was staying at, I brought him food everyday, and made sure he was taken care of. Well one day I came to this spot, and he was just gone, and no one knows how."
"So your dad lost everything?" I said as I replayed his words in my mind. He nodded. It felt like I had a super power. I can talk to ghost now.
