Loki and Thor worked as agents of shield, they were mighty warriors and the team could use all the help they could get. The brothers were training and practicing their skills when Thor noticed something odd about Loki. "Brother are you ok? You don't seem like yourself today." Thor says placing a caring hand on Loki's shoulder. "You don't remember what day it is do you?" Loki softly says with tears prickling his eyes. Thor knew exactly what he was referring to, today was the anniversary of when you fell off the rainbow bridge trying to save Loki, your husband, from falling into the void. Thor pulls his crying brother into his chest, petting his raven waves in attempt to comfort Loki. "She should have never been there in the first place, it's all my fault." Loki sobs becoming weak in the knees as he remembers your face as your hand slipped from his fingers.
You and Loki were so in tune with each other. You could sense if something was wrong with the other. You were laying in your shared bed when an unnerving feeling washed over you. You could hear a ghost of a scream from Loki's voice in your mind causing you to leap to your feet. You could see from the bedroom window that he and Thor were fighting on the rainbow bridge. You gasp at the sight and quickly make your way to the palace stables. You mount your horse and without hesitation gallop to your distressed husband. You can feel the bridge cracking beneath you as the two men continue to fight. "Please stop this!" You scream as Loki turns toward your voice. Thor unintentionally strikes the young prince causing him to precariously skid to the edge of the bridge. Your moves were instant, getting on your stomach, arms hanging over the edge of the bridge holding on to a dazed Loki. "Loki!" You whine trying to pull the god up for him to get ahold of the crumbling edge. His weight slowly pulling you more and more over the edge as he got a firm grip on the bridge to pull himself up to safety. In that moment your knees were no longer supported and you begin to tumble just as Loki turned to you. You were falling too fast for him to snatch your hand to stop your fall. He screamed your name as you quickly disappeared into the void.
"It's not your fault Loki, and that was so long ago. I know it hurts because you love her but I'm sure she wouldn't want to see you like this. She would want you to find happiness again." Thor says as softly as he could gently lowering the younger one to the floor. "I could never replace her." Loki trails off, wiping his tears away trying to compose himself as Steve walked into the room.
"Good one Thor, you knocked me down pretty hard." Loki chuckles so Steve wouldn't ask questions. Steve looks at Thor suspiciously because he knows Loki would never let Thor get the satisfaction of knocking him down. Thor gave the captain a tight smile and softly shook his head to indicate to Steve not to ask questions. Loki gets up and leaves for his room to deal with his emotions alone.
He takes a long shower as memories of you flood his mind, your smile, voice, touch, how you always knew what to say to make him feel better. "Gods why does it hurt so much?" He asks himself before turning off the water and wraps a towel around himself. He makes his way to the bed. After a few moments he opens a secret compartment of his nightstand to pull out a small picture of you and your handkerchief that still has your scent even after all these years. He gently pressed his lips to your picture and deeply inhaled your handkerchief before laying back on the bed as tears roll down his pale cheeks. All of his silent crying caused him to fall asleep tightly clutching the fabric in his hands until the sound of alarms startled him awake. "Really? Don't villains know not to bother me on this day?" He sighed to himself using magic to put his armor on getting ready to fight whatever was causing this alarm.
