Parting Ways

Over the weekend you fill the teams time with different activities. A tour of Asgard, training with Sif and the warriors three, shopping in the towns market just to name a few. You and Loki were taking the team to the stables for an afternoon of horseback riding. "(Y/N) I'm going to sit this one out. I don't like being that high off the ground." Bucky says as you start to bring out the horses. "Oh I don't want you to be left out. Would it be easier if you ride with someone?" "Umm I guess." He says as he runs his fingers through his hair. "You can ride with me." You smile up at him while you help Peter up on the horse. Loki and his horse lead and you arrange everyone in a line with you and Bucky in the back. You mount your horse and offer your hand to Bucky to help him up. "Put your foot in the stirrup then swing your other leg up and over." You instruct and he gets up and settles behind you. He instantly wraps on arms around your waist. "It's ok Bucky I got you." You hum as you place your hand over his. You signal to Loki that you're ready to go and he clicks his tongue to get his horse to move. You travel slowly through the fields of Asgard. "How you doing back there?" "I'm fine if we keep going slow." "Don't worry we'll stay slow." He nods and rests his chin on your shoulder. "So are you coming back with us?" "No Loki and I are staying here. Why?" "Oh I thought you two were apart of the team." He says with sadness in his tone. "We are but Loki is the heir and needs to prepare for the coronation." "Oh loki is going to be king?" "Yes so we need to stay here." "Isn't Thor older why isn't he becoming king?" "He doesn't want to be king. He likes it on Midgard and fighting bad guys with the team. So now the responsibility falls to Loki." "So you will be queen?" "Yes Bucky that's how these things work." You giggle. "That's neat. So I can say my best friend is a queen?" "I'm not queen yet. And did you just call me your best friend?" You ask looking at him over your shoulder. "I sure did doll." "Awe thats sweet Bucky. I would say you're my best friend too." He holds you close and you rest your head against his. "I'm going to miss you." "I'll miss you too but I'm sure Loki and I will visit often." "I hope so." He says as you return to the stables. "How did you like your ride Bucky? Did she treat you right?" Loki asks helping him down so you can get down. "It was actually fun. Thanks for letting me ride with you." He says as you dismount. "You're welcome to ride with me anytime Bucky." You help the others down and put the horses back.

The days progressed quickly and soon enough it was time for the team to return home. You and Loki waited for them at the bifrost gate. "Thank you for inviting us. We had a great time." Steve says as the team agrees. "Anytime guys." Loki says with a smile. You exchange hugs with the team. Peter hugs you tight saying, "I'm going to miss you Mrs (Y/N)." "I'm going to miss you too spider child but I'm sure we will visit often." You see tears welling up in his eyes and you crouch down to wipe them away. "Hey don't cry. If you ever want to talk to me just tell Thor and he can get a hold of me. Ok?" "Ok Mrs (Y/N)." He sniffles and you pull him back into your chest kissing the top of his head. He walks over to Tony and Bucky stands in front of you. "Hey Bucky." You smile. "Can I tell Thor if I want to talk to you too?" He hums with a sad smile. "Of course. He will contact me and I'll send an illusion to talk to you." "Ok but you promise you'll visit right?" "Yes Bucky." He nods and pulls you into a tight hug. "You take care of her." Bucky says as he looks at Loki. "Make sure she doesn't fall again." He teases as you and Loki laugh. "Will do Barnes." Bucky nods and kisses your cheek before waking over to the team. "I'll see you guys later then." Thor says giving you two a hug. "See you later Thor. I told Bucky and Peter to tell you if they want to talk to me. You know what to do." He nods with a smile. "You better get going don't want to keep Heimdall waiting." You giggle as Thor kisses your head. He makes his way over to the team and gathers them in a tight bunch. "Goodbye guys see you later" you call out as you and Loki wave. Heimdall opens the bifrost and in a blink of an eye they were gone. "And there you have it. Thank you Heimdall." Loki says softly as he wraps his arm around your waist. "Not a problem my prince."

Over the coming months you kept your word and visited the team whenever you could. When you weren't there you and Bucky would talk every Friday night. You would send one of your illusions. It took a few sessions for Bucky to get used to it but he wouldn't miss them for the world. "So how's coronation planning going?" He asks as you sit down at your desk and look over official papers. "It's going." You giggle. "Shouldn't be too long now." "I know it's a ceremony that makes Loki king but what happens to you?" He says as he lays down in his bed. "After odin announces him as king and All Father he gets up and announces me as queen and All mother." "Ooooo All Mother. That's a fancy title. What does it mean?" "The mother of all things basically." You say with a shrug. You two talk for hours. Telling each other about things that happened from the last time you talked. He would often fall asleep if your conversations went well into the night. Your illusion would pull the blanket over him before disappearing.
