Chapter 11:Lanturn Lights the Way

As the boys reach Lightning City, there is a tall man with a jagged coat that approaches Josh. "Hey you, aren't you a gym leader?" The man asks Josh. Josh replied politely, "well of course!" The man asked him a question, and Josh was surprised to here that now. "Here! You mean, have a gym battle in THAT lake?!?" The man answered, "yes. And only use one Pokémon... That's all I have, BUT IT IS STRONG!" Josh accepted the challenge and headed over with the man. "Oh yeah" he said, "my name is Jamie!" Josh thought in his head, "man, this guy looks tough, I'll see who he brings out." "Ok! This is my partner Pokémon, Sharpedo!" Wow! A dark and water type Pokémon! Josh had decided. "Cmon out, Chinchou!" Quinn noticed something funny on Jamie's jacket collar, there was a stone. There was also a rubber cover with a stone on Sharpedo's top fin. Could Jamie use... Mega Evolution? "Just a Chinchou? This'll be easy. Alright Sharpedo! Mega Evolve!" Josh was stunned. "Wait what!" Josh was also very mad. Could a little Chinchou really take a Mega Pokémon on? There was one way to handle this. "Ok your move!" Said Josh. Jamie declared a move " Ok use Crunch and end it easily!" Josh waited and, "Ok dodge and use Thunderbolt on the lake!" BAM! Sharpedo took heavy damage and the Pokédex showed less than half health. "Now finish it with a... Huh?" Wait, could it be. Chinchou was, evolving! Lanturn! Chinchou evolved into a Lanturn! "Wait, that isn't fair!" Said Jamie. Gavin replied for Josh, "if you can go mega, he can evolve!" "Whatever. Sharpedo use... What the! He's gone! Where is Sharpedo?!?"

There was a big dark area at the bottom of the lake and they decided to search there. They borrowed some scuba equipment from the docks and tried to find the cave, but couldn't see. Josh had Lanturn come out to light the area up, and it worked! They could see clearly! They found the cave and used Lanturn's light to help the rest of the way down. The cave was deep and scary, but they kept searching. Could Sharpedo really be lost? Just as they were gonna turn back, a Sharpedo attacked Lanturn! Lanturn used Signal Beam to fight it off, but it was really Jamie's! Jamie returned it and they surfaced. "Thanks for helping with Sharpedo" said Jamie, "I wonder why it ran off like that? Maybe it was because a little Chinchou did so much to it in its Mega Evolution form." "Here" said Josh, "I want you to have this. It's the Quad Badge. You deserve it even though you didn't win. You still showed me courage and an amazing power. A bond so strong with Sharpedo you can use Mega Evolution! I hope we can some day have a rematch with our full teams!" Jamie decided to keep on his journey and head over to the next town, Cylia Town, where he would soon meet a new Pokémon. But that is a different story....

The boys continued on into Lightning City and rested at a great hotel, the Gramps Hotel.
