"Nhg." "She's awake!" I hear Poppy shout.
"Poppy, calm down, shhh. My head is on fire." I cry out."Quick, get her a painkiller." I hear Bella call.
A new voice resides beside me. She says her name is Paige, and she is my new maid. I open my eyes to find that I'm in my room laying in my bed.
"What happened?" I question.
"Well, there was a rebel attack."
"When?"
"Yesterday evening. It's midday now. Without knowing, you healed everyone that was hurt in the palace! When the guards came to get us, of course there were casualties, but most were fine. The rebels fled mainly after the Prince got you to safety." Paige answers politely."Well then how did I end up here?"
"Well, um. The Duke carried you up here! You were so exhausted, a-and so was the Prince. He just came and helped us prepare the bed, so you could be comfortable." Bella says.
"Well, I had a strange dream.. about the Duke and his family. You see, there was a little girl. Her name was Morana. B-but, rebels attacked them, saying they wanted her."
She pales and hurriedly leaves the room.Tears well in my eyes, not because I was upset for the girl, but because the rebels I saw belonged to my own. It was Rikers brother, who died a couple years ago at the hands of the kings 'system'.
They wanted to take an innocent child, and what, kill her! I had to speak with Riker in person, but how was I to do that. Surely he knew what had happened.
One thing I wasn't sure about was what the rebels were fighting for. They say the royals are a corrupt piece of society, that need to be dealt with. Taking an innocent child, or threatening an innocent child's life is corrupt, not a just government! I don't want to belong to the rebels anymore.
I will tell Riker I'm done. Then I will make it my life's goal to end the rebels.Hours later I'm sitting in my bed reading a book when I feel tired. I yawn, stretch and then lay down.
My maids have put me on bedrest because of the constant headaches I had. It's then that I'm falling, down down, and back into that world. This time we're sitting in a nursery playing. The older woman and the woman with whiteish hair are sitting beside me. Two older girls walk into the room and complete a circle around me."How is the birthday girl!" One shouts.
In response I giggle. "Goo!" I shout. "Oh well then, she is good!" The identical girl shouts. I realize the two are twins. "Ta-wins!" I shout.
"Did she say twins!" They shout excitedly. "Our baby girl is so smart!" The white haired woman says. "Come on, we have to go to the palace. The King and Queen are throwing a party for her. We have to plan your debuts too. They are in only weeks. You've had your birthdays, and now it's time to go out into the world." The older lady exclaims. "Alright granny! Come sissy." The white haired woman, who I guess is our mother, picks me up, placing me on her hip.
I again fall into a black abyss, down, down, and onto that soft black comfy-ness, drifting off to sleep.I awake to somebody shaking my shoulder constantly. "Your highness, the Prince has arrived to see you. Should we tell him to come back later?"
"No Paige, that's alright, just hand me a brush please."
Paige grabs a brush from my giant vanity. "Just let him in. Also bring up a glass of water and some painkillers. Then your are dismissed for the time being."
"Yes your highness." "Ah, ah, ah." I say after her. "H-have I done something wrong your highness?" She stutters. "Please call me by my name when nobody is around. I dislike formalities."
With that Paige trots our of the room. Moments later Jacob appears in the doorway smiling."Since when were you so bold to visit a woman in bed, huh?"
"Oh ha, ha. You look- "marvelous, I know."I take the brush Paige gave me and remove the bedspread. I draw back the curtains blocking me in, stepping onto the carpeted floor.
My feet hadn't been out of bed in so long, it took a second to get used to it. I was wearing your natural robe, no. The robe I was wearing was thin, but went past my knees like a gown.
I wobble at first, but grab hold of the bedpost for support. A rush of pain comes by, making me squeeze my eyes shut, until it passes. I was too worn out to use my powers, so I had to deal with the constant headaches.
I continue on my way, the curtain hiding my actions from Jacob."What are you doing",he asks in a suspicious tone.
"I haven't been on my feet for a while, and I got up too fast." I lie. "I'm fine now."I finally reach my vanity and sit in the chair. I take a little slip of hair and start brushing it out. In the mirror I see Jacob inching closer. He's leaning against the bedpost now.
"Why do you act this way when we hardly just met," I ask.
He always acted as if we were close, but we had never met before the Coalesce. It was confusing how we made an instant connection.
A light knock on my door pulls me out of my thoughts."My lady?" Paige peeks in. "Yes?"
"I had a special medicine prepared at the magic tower. It would stop your headaches indefinitely." She states.
I quickly put my hand up to my neck and swipe the opposite way. Nothing gets by Jacob though. "Headaches?"
"It's nothing. I'll be back in a moment." I say waving him off. "I would feel more comfortable coming with you."
"It's not like somebody is going to poison me. Besides, I just used too much mana, so for the time being I will have to take these potions curated by the master of the tower. See he was in contact with Avetia recently, and is learning."
His expressions turns to puzzlement.
"Who is Avetia? A great sorceress?"
"I guess I can tell you..." *sigh* "Avetia is the previous goddess. She knows all after having to live like that for centuries."
He slowly nods his head. "I'm still coming with you."
I raise an eyebrow at him. "Since you're so insistent. Fine, but you better keep up." I flick my hand at Paige. She smirks knowingly.
"Let's go." In a moment, Paige and I are at the stairs. Jacob peers out the door confused. "Hey slowpoke!" I shout. He looks at us and narrows his eyes. "Hurry up!" I say once before the two of us zoom to the tower.
When we arrive I snap my fingers and we both are able to walk normal speed again.
"Welcome Princess." The master of the tower welcomes. "Come in. I have procured a special serum. Avetia said a sorcerer made one for her when she first did this, so she relayed the specific information. If I brewed it properly, your mana seals will be full in a few hours."
He says handing me a glass of a fizzy yellow liquid.
"Avetia also said to concentrate on what your casting the spell over. She said when you tried healing yourself that you were too out of focus, so your mana seals went haywire."
I drank the liquid in a few gulps. I always expected things brewn by sorcerers and sorceresses to be foul tasting, but this was a sweet cherry flavor that popped and fizzed in my mouth.
Once again we thanked him and left. I snapped my fingers and Paige and I were back in my room. Jacob had also been teleported there too, though he was out of breath.
"How. . . do you. . .?"
"I just go with it."
"You are weird." He responds.
I start giggling. Paige also giggles and we keep giggling for a while. After dinner in my room, we talk for the rest of the night.
As I get to know Jacob, I think we aren't all that different. The both of us are destined to be leaders one day.
We share the same annoying problem of having to find a suitor. One of the only differences though is. . . he is good, and I. . . am bad.
When my head hits the pillow I drift off into a restless sleep.
