Chapter 9- They drive you crazy
I sit in my chair robotically, while Sophia -Vincent's mom- smiles at me. All three boys Sawyer, Vincent and Mark slouch in their chairs. I'm sitting by Vincent while Mark and Sawyer are across from us.
Sophia is at the end of the gorgeous mahogany table. There's a gigantic chandelier above the center of the table that reflects tint specks of light.
We have empty plates in front of us as we wait. I'm guessing for Vincent's father.
"Can we just eat?" Sawyer asks and his mother glares at him.
"Of course not." she scolds him. "We have to wait." she says.
Then suddenly Vincent's father walks in a maid following behind him. She takes his coat and briefcase walking out of the room. Wow he just arrived why didn't we have dinner later, we've been waiting for 20 minutes.
"Sorry I'm late I didn't know you would be staying for dinner Sophia." he says formally and Sophia looks at him. She looks at him like she exhausted, and not wanting to be here.
"Well we have a guest." she says and he freezes and looks over at me. His eyes look me over them they flick to each one of his sons.
He looks at me once again and smiles.
"Your the doctors daughter right?" He asks and I nod feeling very intimidated. I remember meeting him once before, and he was kind. But now it seems different, like this isn't him putting on a show.
"She's Vincent's friend Jack." Vincent's mother says and he slowly shakes his head, almost in disbelief. He sits at the head of the table directly across from Sophia.
"Well it's a pleasure to have you." he says and I nod.
"Thank you." I say politely not being able to meet his eyes. If I thought Vincent was intimidating and scary, it's clear he got those traits from his father. His father has greys in his sleek black hair and he's getting wrinkles around his eyes, but he still looks good for his age. I mean my mom would totally bone him.
"Vincent you've never mentioned any friends." his dad says and Vincent rolls his eyes.
"Neither do you." he mutters and I see his dad get angry.
"Can we just eat now?" Sophia says as the maids walk in with food.
They set a plate of chicken Alfredo in front of me and I silently moan. I'm so starving i could eat my whole plate in one mouthful. But I won't because I don't want to look like I'm some moneyless girl who doesn't eat.
So I eat slowly and with a nice pace. I look over at Vincent who is scarfing his food down and roll my eyes. Atleast I have class.
"So Spencer what are you taking classes for?" Sophia asks.
"I want to be a writer." I say and she nods.
"That's great, a very slow profession though." she says judgingly and I look at her unsure what to say.
"Uhh well I'm not into action packed job Mrs Keller." I say smiling and she nods.
"Please call me Sophia." she says and I nod.
"Your father is very well known for a doctor." she says her eyes flicking to Vincent. I look at him but he avoid my eyes.
"Yes he's great at his job, in proud to be his daughter." I say and Sophia nods not smiling or showing any sign of emotion.
