"Alright, that should do it." Zim said as he closed the panel on GIR's torso.
GIR powered on in a matter of minutes.
"Master? Oh helloooo!!!" GIR said, energetically, as usual.
"Oh, you're awake. Glad you can still work. Now, to test. GIR, what am I?" Zim asked.
"Grreeen!"
"No, GIR. Not green. Although you are technically correct, still no. What species?"
"A mongoose?" GIR replied.
Zim sighed. "Well, seems you work how you always do. Although not exactly what I wanted.""Computer?" Zim yelled.
The only response he got was just a groan and a, "What?" from the computer.
"Is the virus taken down like I had asked before I left?"
"You never asked me to take it down, you just yelled-"
"What do you mean? I never yelled at you!"
Before Zim could continue the computer played a recording of Zim yelling, "Computer! Take down the virus I had uploaded! Now!"
Silence entered the room for a quick moment before Zim said, "Well is it taken down or not!?"
"Ugh, yes. Are you done?"
"That will be enough thank you, now shoo. I have things to do." Zim said with an unimpressed look on his face.~A while after~
Dib was sitting at his desk, his screens, computer, alarm clock, and even Foodieo 3000 had all begun working again, but Dib didn't bother with them.
He was doodling in his notebook with his pen, the one that had temporarily gone missing before Zim returned it to him.
Without noticing, he was drawing his new little green friend."Son! I have a surprise for you!" Dr. Membrane said.
Dib turned to look at him.
"So, I've noticed that you've been a little different lately, so your little green friend has come to join us for lunch!"
Zim suddenly appeared in Dib's doorway.
"Zim? Why are you here?" Dib asked, with sudden alertness in his voice.
"Just thought I would come pay a visit to you, that's all." Zim responded with a grin on his face.
"Excellent! Come now boys." Dr. Membrane led them down the stairs to the dining table where Gaz was already seated."So, this is a lovely house." Zim said in an attempt to make small talk.
"Why thank you! We've been here for quite a while now." Dr. Membrane said.
"Yeah. As long as we can remember." Gaz said, trying to contribute to the conversation. It was strange for Gaz to do this, although the reason behind it may remain a mystery."I'm glad I can finally meet you! Zim, was it?" Dr. Membrane asked.
"Yes. That is indeed my name." Zim said.
"Uhm, Zim? Can't you not eat human food?" Dib asked in a whisper.
"No, no I can't." Zim whispered back.
Dib then sighed, "Don't worry, I'll cover you."
Dib looked at his father and said, "Hey dad? So, Zim can't really eat the food. It's kind of part of his skin condition so he can't eat certain things."
"Oh, well that's quite alright!" Dib's father responded.
Zim gave a sigh of relief and leaned over to Dib.
"Thanks, Dib-human." Zim said in a whisper.
"Yeah yeah, it's nothing. And it's just Dib."After dinner, Dib went up to his room with Zim following.
"So, what now?" Zim asked.
"I don't know. Everything is just a little different now, and I'm confused!" Dib said getting on his bed and laying against a wall.
"Why is everything confusing?"
"Well, I only helped you with one thing! And it's not like you would've left me alone if I declined. But now, it's like our relationship is all scrambled! We used to hate each other, and maybe we still do, right? But now, it's like we're kind of friends? I'm just not sure anymore!" Dib said, curling his knees to his chin.
"Hm, while I can understand your concern, things can still go back to the way they were."
"I wish it were that easy. Like they say, it's easier said then done." Dib scoffed.
The both of them went silent.
"Look, it'll be fine. Everything will be ok. Don't worry any more then you already have. Things may change, or maybe they'll stay how they were but everything will still have the same result in the end!" Zim said
"And that ending result is?" Dib asked.
"Me ruling the world of course!" Zim responded, sounding mischievous.Dib giggled and began to crack a smile.
"Ok, if that's your perspective."
The atmosphere in room began to lighten up.
"It is my perspective! The correct perspective, in fact!" Zim said, making Dib laugh more.
"Alright then," Dib stuck his hand out to Zim, "Frenemies?" Dib asked.
"Frenemies? What is that?" Zim asked, confused.
"Friend-enemies. We aren't quite friends, not quite enemies. We're kinda both." Dib explained.
"Oh, alright then. If that's what it means."
Zim shook Dib's hand.
"Frenemies!"They both smiled, feeling a little better about things now.
"I really should get going now, I have some things to do." Zim said.
"Ok, feel free to leave through the window if you want."
"Will do. Goodbye then, uh, Dib." Zim opened Dib's window above his bed and climbed out.Well that was... an experience. Dib thought. So, frenemies. I guess that'll do, for now at least...
