"Something bad?" Mom questioned, tilting his head to the side in confusion.

"Upper demons are going to bring demons into the forest again to try and destroy it for good." I rushed out the explanation. My mother's eyes widened in shock. He shifted them swiftly to my father who had his eyes narrowed behind me.

"Actually just one upper demon," Niton butted in.

Dad grabbed Mom's arm and pulled him closer. Mom didn't question it and wrapped his arms around Dads waist but I could see the confusion created by the act. I was also pretty sure Mom did that to hold Dad in place. Just in case he decided to attack Niton, even though mom clearly wasn't sensing what Dad was.

"How do you know?" My dad's voice was scarily calm.

"Uhm..." I turned slightly and pointed a shaky finger in Nitons direction. Behind Niton stood a worried looking Finch and Lavender. They seemed to be in the confusion field like Mom.

"I can feel his demonic energy from here," Dad growled, baring his teeth slightly.

Dad took a step forward, pulling Mom even further behind him. The steps were clearly a power show.

I took my own step in front of Niton. Two could play this stupid game.

"Niton is on our side, Dad. He is here to help," I argued.

My dad's frown deepened but he turned away with a hard nod. He gripped both of Moms arms before speaking.

"Inform the king. Be careful," Dad ordered, giving Mom a quick kiss. Afterwards, Mom reached up and pulled his hair into a super messy bun to keep it out of his face.

"You too." Large firey wings sprung from Mom's back and then he was gone, expertly weaving through the trees.

The sound of a window slamming open grabbed my attention. I snapped my head up at the rattling noise and found Dew rushing after Mom. Dew looked down and gave me a sharp glare before flying faster to catch up. I bit my lip, knowing I would have to apologize at some point.

"I may be able to stop the large demon Raem plans to bring through and hopefully some of the smaller demons." Niton spoke up and stepped forward, drawing all of the attention to him once again.

Dad's frown set in place.

"Then there's no time to waste. I need to suit up," Dad said, turning back to the house. He said nothing more as he walked in but he did leave the door open.

I grabbed Niton's hand and pulled him in behind me. He looked nervous just being in the house. It looked exactly like it did when I left, except the blanket that I had left on the couch had been folded and placed on the cedar chest in the corner.

Finch's heavy steps fell behind Niton and I. Lavender made no sound at all, floating quietly like usual. The sound of hooves trotting forward reminded me that Fallow made the journey along with us. I didn't want him in this fight.

"Fallow, go back to the pins buddy." Fallow grunted but his fading steps meant he was making his way to the pins near the side of the house.

Inside, Dad was already rummaging  through the weapons closet.

"Dion!" He yelled. I stood awkwardly to the side, my fingers clutching tightly around my bow. Niton stood just as stiffly beside me.

I tried to hone in on Dion coming down the stairs; tried to find any sound but there was none. He appeared seemingly out of nowhere. He was basically trained to be silent.

His eyebrows shot up when he saw Niton and I standing in the living room but they dropped just as quick into his blank expression.

"Nice to see you again brother," Dion said, sending me a small smile before approaching Dad.

"You too," I mumbled.

"What's going on?" Dion questioned, stepping up behind Dad and looking over his shoulder.

"Take this." A knife was shoved into Dion's chest, sending him stumbling back.

"This isn't mine."

"I know but it's easier to kill demons with it," Dad explained, pulling out a long blade of his own.

Both knives were a mix of metallic colors that shifted as you moved the weapon. A metallic kind of rainbow. Dad stepped back and swung the blade a few times to test the weight out.

"My axe will work just fine right?" Finch asked from the doorway. His enchanted axe was strapped to his back. I hadn't even noticed he didn't walk inside. My mind was too busy at the moment.

"Yes." The word came from two sources: Niton and Dad. You could feel the glare being sent from Dad across the room. Niton turned his eyes to the ground. I held in a laugh from watching a clearly powerful demon submit to someone who really was just an enhanced human.

"Okay then we're ready," Dad spoke, nodding his head once to affirm himself.

"I can get us to the spot," Niton offered. It would be faster.

"You can teleport?" The question came from my father who could also teleport. Maybe this would bond them a bit. I hoped.

"Yes sir." Formal and respectful. Good call.

"Good, let's get moving."

Niton set a hand gently on my back, pressing down against the jacket I wore. He smiled at me and I forced one onto my lips. I was scared; I don't know how I couldn't be when my family and home were in danger.

"It's going to be okay," Niton whispered. I'm sure everyone else in the house heard it but the words were for me.

Keeping his hand on my back, Niton held out his arm to my brothers and Dad. They each grabbed on and after a confirming nod from my dad, smoke began to surround us.

The feeling was the same as before but it was much easier to handle the second time now that I knew how to react. The smoke dispersed when we successfully made it to our destination. I had been here a couple times before. The most memorable was when my entire class took a field trip to the grassy field in fifth year. The teacher said it would further help us understand the battle.

Though Nitons power was contained, the darkness around us was only building. The grass was dying slowly in places and in others, it was being consumed. Patches of darkness began the build up from the dark spots as the powers of Raum were summoned.

The trees in the area were wilting, it looked as though they were going through their winter changes except for the bark growing black.

I could hear the fairies war horns sounding. I was sure they were already on their way to this historic spot.

The spot that contained the last demon that destroyed the forest and killed many. I hoped this battle would go better than the first. The look on my father's face did not ease my fears in the slightest.
