A hand holding an arrow popped in front of my face, startling me. I turned quickly, finding Cyan smiling lopsidedly at me.
"I think this is yours," He said, dropping it in my outstretched palm. He must have found it in one of the trees. The arrows the fairies used were very specific so it made sense my friend would think it was mine.
"Thanks." Cyan started back towards the forest to continue healing the foliage that was damaged. I turned my attention back to Niton after seeing the sparkles of magic reaching the plants.
He was speaking with King Oberon and had yet to change form meaning I was taking this opportunity to see the true him.
It was different to say the least. I had never seen a high demon outside of pictures in books before. Raum and Niton were my first two.
I couldn't say I didn't like how Niton looked because it was kind of hot but it would take some getting used to. I briefly wondered if the horns were heavy or if he could feel them at all? Did he even recognize the change in his appearance? I wasn't sure how it all worked.
A flush raced across my cheeks when Niton turned from his conversation to find me staring at him. I ducked my head but after a moment brought it back up. I was going to have to talk to him at some point.
I began approaching him and he met me in the middle, a smile showing off his sharp fangs. Much larger than mine.
"You did it," Niton said, pride clear in his voice and a smile set brightly on his face.
"I guess I did. It wasn't hard," I mumbled, rubbing my arm nervously.
"It wasn't hard because you are amazing at what you do," Niton said, grabbing my hand in his to stop my nervous habits.
"Thanks." More blushing ensued. I turned my head to hide it and spotted Mom and Dad a little ways away.
Mom was clearly trying to help heal the foliage that was injured during the attack but Dad was desperately trying to perform medical care on his bleeding arm. It was comical to watch them fight. Mom was waving and pushing him away while Dad was literally trying to pick him up off the ground.
"So how do you feel?" The words grabbed my attention. I knew exactly what he was speaking of but why not have at least a little fun. He did lie to me for a long time so let's give him a taste of his own medicine.
"What do you mean?" I asked, giving him my best confused look.
"How do you feel?" Niton urged, bringing a hand up to cup my face and pull it ever so much closer.
I forced my dead-eyed gaze to stay strong as I watched his face fall at my lack of emotion. His hand fell back to the side and his gaze dropped in uncertainty.
My smirk went unnoticed.
I fisted my hand in his dark colored jacket and yanked him down roughly. The bigger man dropped to my height as I raised up on my tip-toes and planted our lips together.
His hands wrapped around my waist and pulled me even closer to his warm body. One of his large hands cupped my head and ran through my hair, messing it up even more. My own arms reached up and wrapped around his neck, giving me even more leverage in the kiss. It couldn't have been a more perfect moment, other than the fact that I was covered in demon blood.
Niton was the first to pull away but he didn't go far. His forehead bumped into mine; I just barely felt the brush of his horns. He held us tightly together as he spoke.
"I'll always be on your side. I promise," Nitons red eyes met mine. It was startling; I wasn't used to them being this bright but I didn't look away. I believed him. I don't think he'd be stupid enough to do anything like this again now that he knows what he's up against.
"Ahem." The voice was all too familiar.
I jumped around in Nitons embrace to face my Mom and Dad. Dad was watching with a darkened expression while Mom just looked giddy.
"I think it's about time I introduce myself. I'm Wild, Stormys mom," Mom held out a hand for Niton to shake. Instead he bent and kissed the back of Moms hand gently.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," Niton said. I almost gagged.
"This is Zypher. He's grumpy a lot but he grows on you," Mom said, sending Dad a cheeky smile while wrapping Dads arm around him. Dad kept the glare on his face but pulled Mom against him without hesitation.
"I'm Dew," My brother landed next to our parents and folded his blue wings down in the process.
"That's my youngest brother," I added, just in case he hadn't gathered that from me telling him stories.
"It's nice to finally meet you," Niton said, shaking my brothers small hand.
"My name's Finch," Finch said, slinging an arm around Dew and almost bringing him to the ground in the process.
"The cutie with the purple wings over there is my girlfriend Lavender." At the mention of her name, Lavender turned and waved with a stunning smile before returning to her duties of healing.
"It's really a pleasure to meet all of you. Is there any one else in the family I should know about?" Niton asked with a joking tone and a crooked smile.
"Oh there's plenty," I supplied with a cheeky smile.

So I'm going to end this here and I'm a little upset over how much trouble I had with reaching just 1000 word count. I'm gonna try hard to build up word count and get better at showing emotions and descriptions in the next book(s) in the series. Thanks for reading.
