What's your philosophy?
Asking is odd,
But I need to know.
It's not like I'd hear the truth,
Not at first.
Truth comes later,
From acts witnessed,
From language heard,
From frustration's heat,
From tears' dried.
Truth requires time.
I wasted time before on love unfelt.
Language and myths infect
Love's potential and
Its need for honesty.
We're lost in performances of love's clichés.
The Minotaur waits.
Give me a string!
No wait. Wait.
Maybe I should weave one of my own,
And create my own path out of the maze.
And so, I ask again:
What's your philosophy?
Better yet, to start,
What's your philosophy on love?
I'll compose my answer while you compose yours.
Hopefully, we can weave together
The words needed to sing
As individuals that can also,
When necessary,
Harmonize as an us.
