The graduation party on Monday started at 8. Carlisle, Emmett, and I were in Jasper's room discussing our final strategy before people started arriving.

"We have 2 options; attack during the day or at night," Jasper explained to Carlisle. "Both have their drawbacks. The newborns aren't concerned about secrecy and we are. But the main problem is we are outnumbered."

"I'll keep making calls but I'm not holding out much hope for assistance," Carlisle added. I was still angry with the Denalis. In our hour of need, they couldn't do the decency of helping us, all because of Laurent. He was the traitor. I didn't even know what to say to Kate the next time I saw her.

Edward and Bella came in.

"Bella figured out that the break in at her house is connected to the newborn army. The intruder was collecting Bella's scent for the army," Edward announced. What? I was caught off guard. We all were. This whole time we assumed these two events were unrelated but now that the connection was made, it was impossible to consider otherwise.

"But why even break in? What was the purpose?" Emmett asked.

"Probably a test of Alice's vision. And it worked," Edward replied.

"The army was created to attack Bella?" Carlisle repeated warily. "Why?"

"I don't know. The connection is not as important as protecting her and the way we can do that is by destroying the army." Jasper nodded in agreement.

"There's no more reason to wait," Emmett said.

"Yes. I agree. We should try to draw them out of their hiding place into smaller groups since we don't have enough fighters. Maybe somewhere out of the city, somewhere remote to minimise damage. I have a few places in mind. Alice says the group is 22 strong and we are 7...or 6," he said.

"We need to train. Tonight?" Carlisle asked.

We heard vehicles turn off the highway onto our driveway. The party was about to start.

"Yes. The sooner the better."

"I'll let Esme and Alice know. We can continue this discussion after the party."

Carlisle, Edward, and Bella went downstairs.

"Jasper, do you really think we can do this?" I asked.

He sighed, "We have the upper hand in  skill and experience. I don't like the numbers. I don't like gambling with these odds. The likelihood of us coming out the other end with no casualties is slim."

Emmett put his hand on Jasper's shoulder, "We can do this brother."

Emmett and I went to our bedroom to get dressed.

For today's outfit, I went with a linen dress in my favorite shade of yellow. The scoop neckline complemented my gold wedding ring I wore on a gold chain. Hopefully I wouldn't attract attention to myself.

Emmett went for a more causal look, dark washed jeans and a grey long sleeve polo.

Since we weren't uncomfortable with changes in temperature changes, we often relied on what humans were wearing in order to blend in. It wouldn't help us look normal if we wore shorts when it was snowing, even though it made no difference to us physically.
