“Is she going to be alright?” Miley inquired.
“Yes. It’s just the aftermath of shock, she’ll be fine after some rest.” The nurse reassured, then left.
Vicky lay in a bed in the school clinic; the girls brought her in after she passed out following Iris’s upsetting announcement. Well, technically it was just Alex and Miley, Maya just unwillingly tagged along because of their baggage. It was probably Maya who was more relieved that the clinic was not far off.
“I have to go.” Alex said strapping her bag unto her shoulder. “I have to meet someone for a project. I’ll see you later.” Miley nodded and she left.
Miley sighed. “I can’t imagine how Vicky must be feeling. I can’t even wrap my head around the fact that Hanna is really dead.” Then her grief changed into shock. “So that means Hanna wasn’t the Louboutin Killer?”
Maya sucked on her almost finished lollipop then crushed it into bits. “Did you really think that Hanna – almighty Hanna, low-key scared Hanna – was the Louboutin Killer? She may be sick in the head but she’s no murderer.”“Then why did you act like you believed she was?”
“I just went along with it because it was fun to see her squirm and all. And she kind of deserved it too, seeing her lie is the reason Becca and Kellan died in the first place.”
“I didn’t know you cared for Becca and Kellan.”
“I never did and never will. I just think that their deaths were unfair.”
“Same here.” Miley considered. “Well, I did care about Becca too. Not so sure about Kellan.”“So you didn’t do it?” Maya asked spontaneously.
“Do what?”
“I’m asking if you didn’t kill them.” Her tone and attitude was so casual Miley had to think for a second if she was really being asked such a question.
“Are you crazy? Why would you think that? I can’t even hurt a fly, to talk of killing someone.”
“Only the five of us knew about the tickets theft and not long ago the third amongst us was murdered in a walk-in freezer, leaving us two, and I know I’m not the killer. But I don’t know about you. And Hanna said something that got me thinking, ‘The quiet and innocent ones are always the scariest.’ You could be the killer for all I know.”
“Well I’m not, so you can relax.”
“Then what about Alex? Did she do it?”
“No! And where is this coming from?”
“I’m not blind Miley, I know you told her a bit of what is going on. She was acting like she knew something. Maybe she killed them after all.” Maya said in that nonchalant that was beginning to get annoying.
“She has no reason to. She wasn’t vying for the crown and had no relationship with any of them whatsoever, except for sharing a few classes. Alex isn’t crazy, she would never kill anyone.”
