My Kingdom

I'm trapped inside this kingdom,
The one I used to call my home
It's walls forever close in on me,
Threatening to cast out what's left
Inside these bones.
-
I scream along with the bitter wind that
Echoes through these halls,
It's voice forever haunts my dreams;
It's sad wail-turned beckoning call.
-
I know of every stone and crack,
And every shadow by its name
They hear my cry of sadness,
And comfort my sorrows in vain.
-
I know of every secret,
The windows have solemnly earned.
Of each footprint left on its sill,
Silently never to return.
-
I know of every darkened doorway,
To which evil stood beneath.
Their chanted spells and woven tales-
Their charms forgotten to me.
-
And last I know the souls,
Each wandering ghost and stationary thing.
Their poor old selves are lost forever,
Turned now to a weightless being.
-
I'm cold in this kingdom.
A prisoner of my bones.
I wish to collapse in on myself,
And escape what I once called home.
