JUGHEAD POV
I waited impatiently for the man across the table to pay his cards down. The poker game had gone on for what seemed like forever. I had bet $75 on this and the two strangers had bet their third-class tickets to England.
"Jughead, you're betting all we have." My best friend, Moose said. Moose and I had been friends for years. We met on the streets of Boston and have been best friends ever since.
"We have nothing, so we have nothing to lose." I looked over and whispered. He gave a doubtful look. I looked back over and saw the first man had made his move. I looked over at Moose. He glared at me and he put his cards down. They weren't bad. I looked at second man and he made his move. I paused and sighed. I realized what just happened.
"Jughead...what happened?" Moose asked. I shook my head and looked over at him.
"I'm so sorry, Moose."
"What?! You lost?! We have nothing now!"
"No, I'm sorry...because we're going to England!" I exclaimed. Moose and I got up and started cheering. We were screaming and we hugged very tightly. The two men were now arguing in Spanish. I grabbed my money and the tickets. I put them in my backpack. Moose and I smiled and we hugged again.
"We're going to drink lots of tea and eat a lot of crumpets!" Moose cheered. I nodded and cheered with him. The waitress came over to us and looked at our tickets.
"You boys better hurry. That ship leaves in just a few minutes." She said. I looked at Moose and he gasped.
"Hurry! Grab your bag! Thank you, ma'am. Let's go!" I yelled. Moose and I quickly ran down the street. We were bumping into people but we weren't paying any attention. We were just so happy. I haven't traveled in the longest time so this was really great. I have never been to Europe before so this was going to be really fun.
"Jughead, hurry!" Moose yelled as he was able to run in front of me. I ran even faster. I caught up with Moose. We found the bridge to the third-class. We ran up it and one of the crew members stopped us.
"Why didn't you turn your luggage in? And where are your passports?" He asked. I'm the master at lying though. Moose knew that so he didn't even bother talking.
"I'm scared of people stealing my stuff. Our passports are in our bags. Look, we're both English. Can you just let us get back to our country?" I asked in a fake English accent. He nodded and pointed to the door. We practically jumped on to the boat. We ran down the hallway and got into the elevator. The doors closed and we cheered some more.
"Stupid man! That was the worst fake English accent I've heard in my entire life." Moose laughed.
"Yeah, but it got us on the ship. Did it not?" I asked and went back to my normal voice. The elevator got down to the third-class rooms. They were very crowded. We looked around and we found our rooms. There were a couple men in there already. I guess third-class rooms were all shared with strangers. But that's ok. It's better than sleeping in the bathroom or a bar every night.
"Hi, I'm Jughead Jones." I smiled and shook the hand of one of the other guys in the room. I saw down on the bottom bunk and laid down. Yeah, England was going to be great.
