The three sirens swam in unison towards the high tech submarine hanging around the outskirts of the city. As they got closer, Ant waved and motioned to the moonpool.
Calligenia and Amata exchanged curious but wary looks as Feyre led the way, leading them through the opening and into the enclosed waters of the pool where their tail-less companions greeted them.
"Nectons - and Fin and Naerius - May I introduce my daughter. Amata" Said mer nodded her head in welcome. "And Calligenia, the first to welcome Amata and I into the life of a siren all those years ago" The olive-skinned mer glanced towards Feyre, a playful smile lighting up her features.
Now it was Amata's turn to speak. The scarred Siren rose up higher in the pool, eyes meet each of the humans assembled. "Understand this. My mother may have placed her trust in humans one too many times"
Feyre swiftly turned to her daughter, words of protest dying as Amata raised a finger. Calligenia, however, simply hung her head.
"But, you and yours have proven to her that you can be trusted, and though I have yet to see you when your loyalties will be tested, the Sea thrums with singing your praise.
For now, the city of Sirens welcomes you" Amata turned to Nereus, who opened his mouth.
"I once inhabited this city-"
"We know. The human queen's legacy lives on, and we have cared for her kingdom with vigour"
"Ah...Thank you. Would you grant us access to the city? There is an artifact of immense power here that could be used to control the monumental's on there way here."
"Nereus!" Ant turned to the man, eyes wide. "You didn't say anything about that"
"I apologise Antaeus-"
"I am assuming you mean the Queen's Sceptor. It is currently in the possession of our chief justiciar. It is nothing but a trinket of old in his hands" Calligenia spoke, moving to grasp the side of the moonpool.
"Yes, however, only true descendants of the queen's blood can harness its power"
"And are you?" Amata questioned, causing the wisened man to stammer.
"No. NO. you misunderstand. It is Antaeus here who is the queens decendant-"
"What!" Fontane yelped. "Dad. Where related to royalty!"
"Don't look at me" William raised his hands in surrender. "It's the first I'm hearing of it'
"Ah, yes. I did forget introductions.", Feyre smiled, "But Ant is the one the Ocean spoke of"
"You didn't mention this", Amata looked at Ant, taking note of how he smiled sheepishly.
"You were yelling at me. I didn't exactly have time"
Before any more words could be spoken, another siren raved into the moonpool, chittering and speaking with the speed of a swordfish.
But the Sirens had heard enough to decipher what they were saying. With a low growl, Amata dove back under the water, Calligenia close on her tail.
"What's happening", Finn raced towards Feyre before she too could disappear back into the ocean's embrace. "Feyre?"
"There is a fleet of Submarines on the horizon, led by the Dark Orca". With that, Feyre disappeared under.
But the Nectons children were having none of it.
"Catch", Fontane tossed a re-breather towards Finn while adjusting her own. William and Kaiko raved towards the bridge while Ant dove into the water, following the rapidly disappearing forms of the three Sirens.
