A growl ripped through the iron room, and a black-haired woman tore at the barrel she was stuck in, her black eyes alight with fire, pale skin glowing a sickly olive colour in the saturated yellow light.

She had been stuck in this cramped room in a god-forsaken barrel for a week, and her only way of telling time was the humans that would come and bring her food every so often.

Like now.

She groaned as the sound of footfalls filled the room, and with much difficulty, she managed to flip herself so that her head was under the water, and her large, black tail was dangling over the edge.

She could hear the door open, and she groaned again as humans entered, she could smell their strange food and smiled as they left the room.

She flipped herself once again, eyed the food, gripped the wooden tray, and threw it against the door.

Finn scrambled for cover as a group of pirates passed, then sprinted down the hall for the room marked with a large red 'danger' sign. As he neared, a sudden crash sent his heart racing, and he dove for the room, ripped open the iron door, and slammed it shut behind him.

"Hello", Finn's blood ran cold as a soft voice floated around the room, and when he turned, his heart leapt into his throat.

There, with her slender arms balanced on the edge of a barrel.

"mermaid", as the words left his mouth, she recoiled, hissing in disgust.

"I am not one of those twittering fools", she rose proudly out of the water, "I am a siren".

Finn sighed, she was so beautiful, with hair like raven feathers and eyes like coal, she was like a gorgeous dream.

"your beautiful"

The Siren scoffed and motioned him over. Finn began walking, never taking his eyes off her and she reached an elegant hand out to him, smiling.

"Perhaps this will help", he found his gaze drawn to the water around her waist, and when he looked, something fell away from his mind. Her reflection didn't look right, no matter how he saw it, there was something deeply wrong with it. And when he raised his head, he found her looking the exact same, nothing drastic had changed about her, aside from the fact that she didn't look right.

"Better?", he launched back as she spoke, and her voice lost all beauty. It was still soft and alluring, but, just like her, it sounded so wrong.

"What did you do to me?", he growled, holding back a sneer as the siren smiled.

"yes. Very sorry about that, I can't help it you see", she spoke so innocently, though knowledge shone in her black eyes.

"what did you do to me", he growled again, this time, letting out the sour sneer as she laughed.

"It's called a sirens song", he soft laughter slowly died down as she spoke, "the second you hear my voice, your helplessly under my control", he flinched, and she laughed again, "however, you were still surprisingly aware, it seems that someone has claimed your heart, pirate boy", she flashed a knowing smile, and Finn flinched at the nickname.

"Don't call me that", the siren didn't stop grinning.

"Does she call you that, Pirate Boy", she laughed, and he regretted entering the room, but he needed her help, so he asked the question that had been bubbling up inside him ever since he had entered.
