Rachael Point Of View:
"How long are you going to keep up with this silent treatment you're giving us?" Dad asks me as he reaches over to grab the salt.
I remain silent as I continue eating the Chinese food we ordered. I got shrimp with lobster sauce, my sister got sweet and sour chicken, and both my parents got dragon and phoenix.
I haven't spoken a word to anyone after Hannah dropped me off, and my family is upset about me. Abby teased me about the date with Hannah, and she said that the date was a bad experience, and it made me speechless.
"You know, we are not Hannah, Rachael," Mom said in annoyance as she rolls her eyes.
"Mom, she's just speechless about the date," Abby laughs. "I wonder what Hannah has done, though."
"Rachael, you're born with a larynx," Dad says, and points to my throat. "You better speak up, moody lady."
I mumbled, "Fine."
"Fine," Abby mocks me with a higher vocal, more like she's screeching.
"Well, then spill," Mom says with a proud smile. I shook my head, "It's just - I found out Hannah dated Samantha before."
"So?" She says. "That's between Samantha and Hannah, not you."
"Mom, she hangs out with Sam," Abby tries to whisper to Mom across the table. "It would be awkward."
"I know it's between Hannah and Samantha, but that's the reason why Samantha won't talk to me anymore," I said, feeling my anger or annoyance rising inside me. "Ever since Hannah made our relationship official, Samantha wouldn't hang out with me anymore. I thought it was because I did something wrong. Maybe I did, but she just left me out of nowhere."
"I have reached out to her, but she would avoid me as if I'm the plague." My voice cracks, feeling the rush of frustration, turning into crying of frustration. "I went up to the hill every day near the football field because that was the last time we talked, and that was the last time we made eye contact with each other. That is the reason why I would wake up early!"
"No wonder, and I thought someone kidnapped my real sister. Not I would mind, but -" Abby shuts her mouth close when I glare at her. I wouldn't mind either, Abby. I would rather be away from you, Abby, as I thought to myself.
"Why don't you talk to her face to face then?" Dad suggests and munches down on his broccoli. "Young people nowadays rely on technology so much that makes them think they can't live without their cellphone."
"I tried..." I murmur. Dad looks at me, raising a brow, "More like, you tried to do it through someone, so you don't have to face Samantha."
"She's intimidating," I whisper, bring up the food to my mouth.
"Intimidating?" Mom questions. "What does that mean?"
"She's beautiful, okay? Not only that, but she also wouldn't show her emotions. Her eyes are telling most about her..." I told Mom, looking down at my food, avoiding her eyes on me.
"Then talk to her face to face then," Dad spoke up. "Alright, I'm out of here."
Dad stood up from his seat, making a scraping sound as he pushes the back to get up. Then he collects the container from us and starts washing it.
Yes. My parent keeps plastic containers because it's reusable. Do you?
Mom hummed, "I agree with your Dad. Tomorrow, why not talk to her then."
"It's easier to be said than done," I whisper under my breath, and plaster on a forced smile. "Of course, it's going to be easy."
Mom left the kitchen table with Dad leaving Abby with me.
"What's going to happen between Hannah and you then?" She asks after both our parents went out of our sight.
"Er..." I said nervously, remembering my last words with her. "We are not in good terms now?"
"You said like that like a question, what happened?" Abby asks, looking at me. Eyes darken in curiosity, and her nose perks up in excitement, too.
"Let's say I was pissed. Then words came out of my mouth without thinking about it." I said.
"Typical you," She mumbles, and I pretend that I didn't hear her.
"Anything else you want to know?" I ask her, shifting in my seat.
"Nah, but this Samantha still sounds interesting to me," Abby said.
"Oh!" I say in realization. "I met Samantha's parents today, too!"
Abby looks at me like I'm crazy, "What did you say?"
"I met Samantha's parents today," I repeat myself. She raises an eyebrow and nods slowly.
"How did that happened?" Abby asks slowly, and I laugh at her.
"It's not anything serious, Abby," I said, throwing my head back a little laughing in laughter. The way her face is priceless.
"How did that happened, though?" She asks, poking my side.
"The date with Hannah was taken place in a restaurant where we called it, our place," I said, quoting 'our place' in mid-air with my fingers. "Then suddenly, I dozed off, and I guess I lost patience. Or myself. Anyways, I spotted them first because they gave me a weird vibe. However, Hannah suggests to meet them. Which we did, and that is how I found out about Samantha and Hannah. Samantha's parents are nice, though, but they give off weird vibes, too."
"Interesting," She nods, frowning a bit.
"Yup," I hum, and got off my chair. "I'm going to my bedroom now."
I left her and went upstairs, and the wooden floor creaks beneath me as I step on them. Walking, more like speed-walking, went down the hallway to my bedroom.
Finally, some alone time, and it's almost time to go to bed.
My phone buzzed in my pocket, getting my attention, so I flip out my phone.
It's a message from Hannah, and it's about her telling me that she understands why I am upset and told me goodnight with a red heart. Instead of throwing my phone aside, as I would usually do, I texted her back that everything is okay. Her past shouldn't affect us.
