I wandered forth into the woods. A small child my age had nothing else to do with their time. It was a fun way to get away from the other kids. Spend some time alone, without being stuck in the orphanage. My over-sized sleeves hung in the air, and I hummed softly. Flowers all around me had bloomed long ago, their smooth petals seeming to glow in the sunlight. To say it was just lovely was an understatement.

The birds chirped and cooed, singing their daily songs to the world. I couldn't help but crack a smile. The only thing I missed on this perfect day, was family. But I was normally alone anyways. I only had one friend. He and I hung out so much. He was always there for me when I needed to cry, and was there to make me feel better. But he got adopted a few months ago. I hope he's doing swell. The parents that took him in seemed to love him.

As I adventured deeper into the lush forest, I bumped into a tall figure. Apologetically, I looked up toward the person.

"My apologies, sir" He shook his head.

"нет, I wasn't watching where I was going" The peculiar male with a funny accent said. His face was a solid crimson, with a small golden symbol as one of his pupils. I heard somebody call something toward the male. Turns out the person who called him, was a small boy who looked to be about my age. Possibly older. He had a few friends, or maybe siblings. I locked eyes with one of them, who quickly looked away, and toward the taller male.

"Отец, кто это?" He said in a questioning tone. He had a few different colors on his face.  Horizontal stripes in the order of white, blue, and red. I didn't understand the language he spoke, and I tilted my head to the side. The red faced one pulled the boy aside.

"Он не говорит по русски" He replied to the child. They nodded, and turned to me.

"What's your name?" They asked me politely. I suddenly got shy.

"Y-Y/n..." I murmured. They giggled.

"I'm Russia!" He grinned. One of the other little kids piped in.

"I'm Ukraine!" They stated boldly, smiling just as widely as Russia was. He then pointed to the others.

"This is Belarus and Kazakhstan!" He added. They waved, and I slowly approached them.

"Would you like to be my friends? I don't have many friends" I asked hopefully. Russia and Ukraine rapidly nodded.

"Of course, Y/n!!!" I smiled, before my watch caught my attention.

"I'm sorry, I have to go! I'll be back soon I promise! Maybe tomorrow!" Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan pouted before lightening up.

"Okay! See you again sometime!" Russia called out, before I needed to make the walk back to the orphanage. I couldn't help but smile. New friends...

From then on out, I came and visited them everyday. I spent my outside hours in the meadow, chatting and playing with them. Sometimes I could even meet their friends. America, Japan, China, Germany, and a few others all came to visit at one point. It was super fun.

And slowly, their visits began to get cut short. After a while, a few days in the week they wouldn't even come. But... it came to the point I didn't see them once a month anymore. It really broke my heart. I continued to visit the meadow every day still, hoping to see their faces again.

I lost my sense of hope after the first year. I came out of boredom, and reminisced in the memories. One by one, the years passed, and I was a teenager. I stopped visiting long ago. It hurt me too much to go back.
