Myr POV

How to break this to her? I thought.

I looked over Jocelyn. She noticed and looked back at me with a nervous look.

Not helping but okay. I thought then I knocked on the door.

"Myr! Is that you?" called my mom.

I took a deep breath as I heard her open the door.

"What took you s-" My mom stood there with her mouth open as she saw Jocelyn.

"Uh...hi?" Jocelyn said smiling weakly.

My mom lunged foward and dragged Jocelyn into our apartment before slamming her against the wall.

"YOU FILTHY VAMPIRES!!" She growled. "Had to take my daughter away from me too?"

I closed the door before running over to my mom and said, "NO! Mom, it's not her fault."

"What do you mean, it's not her fault? She is your master now!" My mom yelled.

Jocelyn wasn't even struggling, she just allowed herself to be pinned against the wall with her head down.

"No mom. I was attacking a human and she was forced to do it." I said.

"That still does not excuse her. They're the enemy. She also could have done it another way instead of the heart connection." She said growling.

"Please Mom. If you kill her, I die too. Remember. And she's not a bad vampire. Just hear her out okay? Please." I begged.

My mom sighed and released Jocelyn, who collapsed onto the floor.

"Get up, vampire." My mom said emphasizing the word vampire. "We need to talk. Don't try to enslave me either. I have experience fighting your kind."

Jocelyn rose unsteadily and followed my mom as they went into her room.

I just stared at the door before I walked over to the couch and collapsed on top of it.

What's going to happen now? I thought. Do I hate her or not? I mean I know she has to stay alive for me to also live but is that all?

I felt something brushing my leg and I saw Maxi clinging onto it making a sad chirping sound.

I sat up and hugged her.

"Oh Maxi. What am I supposed to do?" I asked her.

She just stared up at me with her multiple eyes with a sad expression. (I don't how but I guess because arachnids are different from normal spiders).

Jocelyn POV

"So..." Myr's mom said. "What are you planning to do now, vampire?"

She spat out the word vampire and I winced.

She must really hate us. I thought. Then again, we did enslave their entire kind and force them to fight for us, but I didn't even know they still existed until now.

"I-I'm..well..actually, I don't know." I said stuttering. "I-I don't k-know what to do. I mean no harm. I-I am planning to free her when I become strong enough anyway."

She just stared at me with a blank expression.

I shifted under her gaze feeling uncomfortable.

Not my fault. I thought. I didn't want any of this.

"Okay, I believe you." Myr's mom said.

"W-what r-really?" I said sighing in relief.

"I can read your emotions, so I know if you are lying or not and I saw that you weren't. That still doesn't change the fact that I hate you, but I won't capture you and torture you until you grow strong enough to regenerate your heart in which I'll kill you." She said. "Also, because my daughter likes you."
