|PAINFUL TRUTH|
“You know I would always steal glances at you, you were the most handsome guy I’ve ever seen, always having a smile—a genuine smile and someone who has kind word for everyone. I was a coward, I was afraid to ask you out. But when I finally mustered the courage, I was the happiest woman walking on the earth. You were a man of my dreams,” she faked a laughed before she continues her words.
“But you know during those times I stole glances at you, I noticed you stealing glances at him. I brushed it off, as I thought it was some weird frenemies, admiration, or whatever you boys call it...” Allyssa trailed off.
“But even we started dating, you would always find a way to mention his name and everything about him, to tell something he did and didn’t do. I didn’t believe it, although the signs were there and presents itself. It may not appear that, but I am quite observant and I slowly noticed your infatuation with him, even before you did. The way you stared at him, the way you became sad when he rejects you.” she laughed uneasily again, her laugh caught in her throat.
Nathaniel didn’t really know where to get courage to speak to her, he was shocked and even a bit ashamed of her. He barely found his voice. “I didn’t planned it, I swear.”
She wiped his tears, and wrapped her arms around his hip. “I know you didn’t. We can’t choose who we fall in love with. It breaks my heart that I can’t be the one for you like you are for me,” she whispered in his hair, her whisper choked by the end.
They stood like that for a couple of minutes, in each other’s embrace, bidding their saddest adieu. Finally, Allyssa broke off, wiping her tears with her sleeve, and inhaling loudly, trying to regain composure.
“Let’s walk back, it is really cold outside. I don’t want you to catch a cold.” she said turning to walk back.
“Why are you being nice to me, when I broke your heart?” Nathaniel asked, new set of tears forming in his eyes.
They walked back in silence, each absorbed in their own plan. They stopped in front of Nathaniel’s building. Allyssa broke the silence, “That’s what a dedicated lover can do, when she was in love,”
“I’m sorry, too.” she hugged him for one last time. Before parting from the embrace, Allyssa grip on his waist tightened slightly. “Nathaniel, maybe I shouldn’t say this but I feel like I need to,” Nathaniel looked at her confused, waiting for her to continue.
“I—I don’t think he can make you happy,” she whispered looking deeply in his eyes. “He is horrible, egoistical, and devious. I don’t want him to hurt you. Please, be careful. I don’t know how strong your feelings for him are but be aware of one thing, Andrew’s maliciousness has no limits, and I wouldn’t want you to be on the receiving end. I’m begging you, watch out of his back. Don’t worry, I’m only one call away,”
She finally finished her short, determined speech, and pecking Nathaniel one last time on the lips, she turned away and left.

It’s been a month since Nathaniel accepted his proposal. Andrew walked hastily from his limo to the school’s entrance. The air had that particular fresh aroma to it, as if it was going to snow soon. The brunet shuddered from the cold. The rosiness of his cheeks dispelled the common notion that he couldn’t feel coldness at all.
“Good morning.” Andrew greeted his minions as he took the coffee from Alec’s hand. The guys noticed Andrew was chirp and happy these past few months, and they were dying out of curiosity to know the reason behind but the never dared to ask. Alec shot a curious look as they noticed Andrew smiling to himself. To them, this was beyond strange as they have never seen him behave like this. Alec decided to take a leap of faith and ask.
