Chapter 5

The next morning I hardly opened my eyes when my alarm clock rang. I rolled out of bed and looked for something to wear. Even Meggie could not show more motivation than me.

After a quick breakfast I sprinted to my classroom. I wanted to be there as early as possible so that I could prepare myself in peace before the first lesson began. Katie and Meggie had different studies than me, so I had to spend the first lesson alone with strangers.

As I pushed the door of the classroom open and marched in determinedly, silence enveloped me. A guy with tousled brown hair sat in the third row on the right side and dozed off. Otherwise there was not a soul to be seen. Quietly I sneaked past the guy and sat down in the first row on the left side. After I had served everything up nicely and put it in order, I turned around carefully. Meanwhile a few more tired looking students had found their way to the classroom. The door swung open and loud laughter came in. I quickly turned around again. Suddenly the sounds behind me stopped and I did not dare to turn around. I flinched when suddenly a bag was peppered on the table next to me with a loud bang. "That's my place! Go and search yourself an other one!", a rough voice said irritated. "Sorry I didn't know that", I replied softly. Startled, I collected my things without looking up and stepped aside. Great! What did I do to deserve this on my first day of school? So embarrassing! I discovered the free space next to the dozing boy and sneaked up slowly. Gently I tapped him on the shoulder and when he jumped up I shyly asked him: "Can I take a seat next to you?" "Yeah, of course!", he replied friendly.
When I started to unpack for the second time, my eyes wistfully wandered back to my original seat. My blood stopped in my veins when I realized who had driven me away. It was none other than the arrogant Sota.
