BEEP BEEP BEEP!
Ughh not again. I open my eyes and try to sit up, causing pain to splinter through my head. My breath hitches as I wait for the pain to stop. As I look around the room, my eyes fall on my parents and then Jace. I smile when I see him and feel a flutter through my stomach.
Suddenly, I feel nauseous and get out of bed as quickly as I can, yanking the wires out of my arms. I make it to the toilet and start throwing up. When I finish, I feel someone behind me. I turn around and see Jace. He's holding my toothbrush and I smile at him.
"What happened?" I ask and he looks down at his feet. He has a bruise on his face and I reach up and touch it tenderly. He winces and I know its worse than he's letting on. I look through the medicine cabinet and find a plastic bag. Walking back into the room, I see a cup of water on a tray that still has ice in it.
I reach in and grab the ice, putting it in the bag and placing it against his face. He winces and tries to set it down, but I stop him. "Keep that on the bruise, it'll help, I promise."
"But it hurts!" He whines like a little kid and I roll my eyes, trying not to laugh.
"Don't be such a pussy!" I say and wink as his eyes go wide. He frowns and I laugh at his childishness. I walk back over to my bed, feeling dizzy and lie down.
A nurse comes running in worried. I raise my eyebrows and she rolls her eyes, clearly frustrated. "You can't disconnect the wires, honey. We thought your heart had stopped beating." I couldn't stop the anger that rushed through me as she gave me a pathetic look. I think she was trying to be understanding, but to be honest, she just looked constipated.
"Well I'm sorry, but I felt nauseous and didn't really want to throw up all over myself." Her expression shows she is surprised, but then changes to something else. Concentration? Confusion?
"You shouldn't be feeling nauseous, dear." My eyes go wide and I fiddle with my fingers, hoping with all of my heart that nothing is wrong. "I'm going to see your doctor about this." I nod and she leaves abruptly.
I can feel myself shaking, and Jace walks over and sits in the chair beside my bed again. Suddenly, I feel really scared and he takes notice of it immediately.
He picks me up, moving me over so he can lie down next to me. Immediately, he wraps his arms around me and I lay my head on his chest. I feel my heart rate slow down and feel calmer.
Before I know it, we're both asleep.
